Day 1 – Arrival in Windhoek, Namibia
After landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport, approximately 40 km outside of Windhoek, you will be warmly welcomed by your private safari guide from Ultimate Safaris. From here, you’ll transfer in comfort to Galton House, your base for the night.
The afternoon is yours to relax and recover from your journey. You might take a dip in the pool, enjoy a quiet drink on the terrace, or simply settle into the peaceful surroundings.
Later in the day, your guide will meet with you to go over the itinerary in detail, answering any questions and ensuring that your upcoming safari is perfectly tailored to your interests and pace. Together, you’ll discuss what to expect in the days ahead and fine-tune any personal preferences for your private journey through Namibia.
In the evening, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner at the guesthouse or, if you prefer to explore, your guide can recommend one of Windhoek’s excellent local restaurants for your first taste of Namibian cuisine. Then, retire for a restful night before your adventure begins in earnest.

Day 2 – Journey to the Namib Desert
After breakfast, your private guide will meet you at Galton House and you’ll set off southwest in your safari vehicle. The drive takes you through the rugged beauty of the Khomas Hochland highlands, with their sweeping vistas and winding mountain passes, before descending the dramatic Great Escarpment into the vast, sun-soaked expanse of the Namib Desert. Along the way, you’ll stop for a scenic picnic lunch, surrounded by wide horizons and the shifting colors of the desert landscape.
You’ll arrive at Camp Sossus in the mid-afternoon, your base for the next two nights. Each tented suite has both an indoor sleeping area and an open-air star bed for those who wish to fall asleep beneath Namibia’s famously clear night skies. The camp perfectly blends comfort and simplicity, offering a sense of privacy and closeness to nature that few places can match.
This afternoon, you may choose to explore the area with your guide, perhaps on foot, discovering the subtle beauty of the surrounding desert and ending your day with a sundowner as the light fades across the plains.

Day 3 – Sunrise and Exploration in the Namib Desert
This morning begins with a magical excursion into Namib Naukluft National Park. Entering the park at sunrise, you will witness the dunes bathed in soft morning light, where shadows accentuate their towering shapes and graceful curves. This area is home to some of the highest free-standing sand dunes in the world, a truly breathtaking sight.
The day is spent exploring the iconic dunes, including Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei, where the stark white clay pans contrast dramatically with the surrounding red sand. Depending on the season, you may even see water shimmering in the pan, reflecting the immense dunes and the occasional gnarled camelthorn tree. The ever-changing light, the sweeping curves, and the deep red and orange hues of the desert make this one of Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders.
Energetic travelers may wish to climb one of the dunes for a challenging but rewarding view, with the option to descend by sliding down the sands, a quintessential Namib experience. After a morning in the dunes, enjoy a picnic brunch amidst the stunning scenery before returning to Camp Sossus in the early afternoon. Day 4 – From the Namib Desert to the Atlantic Coast
Today’s journey takes you northwest through the stunning and ever-changing landscapes of Namib Naukluft National Park, including the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons. The drive showcases the desert’s dramatic contrasts, from sweeping gravel plains to towering canyon walls. For those seeking a unique perspective, it is possible to arrange a scenic flight over the area, offering breathtaking aerial views of the desert terrain and canyons.
Your route continues to the coast, arriving at the port town of Walvis Bay before heading north to Swakopmund, where the cool Atlantic air provides a refreshing contrast to the desert. Day 5 – Exploring the Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross
After a leisurely breakfast, depart Swakopmund and head north along Namibia’s dramatic coastline. Your first stop is the haunting Zeila Shipwreck, just south of Henties Bay. Stranded in 2008, the rusting hull now provides a striking contrast against the desert sands and is home to a variety of seabirds. The wreck is a vivid reminder of why this stretch of coastline earned its evocative name, the Skeleton Coast.
Continuing north, you arrive at Cape Cross Lodge, your base for the night and gateway to one of the area’s most remarkable natural spectacles. Here, the Skeleton Coast reveals its wild charm: rolling Atlantic waves, fog drifting inland from the ocean, and a sense of untamed wilderness that is both eerie and mesmerizing.
The Cape Cross Seal Colony is the highlight of the region. Thousands of Cape fur seals and their pups populate the rocky headland, offering a truly immersive wildlife experience. Day 6 – Journey to Cheetah View Lodge and Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, depart Cape Cross Lodge and travel northeast toward Cheetah View Lodge, passing through small towns and scenic countryside along the way. A picnic lunch is arranged en route, allowing you to soak in the landscape and enjoy a relaxed break.
Arriving at the lodge in the afternoon, you will have some time to settle in and freshen up before setting out on an afternoon game drive within the lodge’s reserve. The drive offers an excellent introduction to the lodge’s surroundings, including sightings of various plains game and the chance to learn more about Namibia’s wildlife and conservation efforts.

Day 7 – Conservation and Wildlife at Cheetah View Lodge
Today is dedicated to immersive wildlife experiences and exploration at Cheetah View Lodge. After breakfast, enjoy a morning drive and observation sessions, including visits to the cheetah run and a tour of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) facilities. You will also have the opportunity to see the lodge’s ambassador cheetahs up close.
This day provides a unique chance to learn about the workings of one of the world’s leading cheetah conservation projects while observing these magnificent animals in their natural surroundings.
Throughout the day, enjoy guided drives and observation sessions in the reserve, taking in the sights and sounds of the Waterberg Plateau. Relax on the lodge veranda, watch wildlife at the waterhole, and stroll through the landscaped courtyard featuring native gardens and a striking cheetah sculpture. Day 8 – Arrival at Etosha National Park and Mushara Bush Camp
After an early breakfast, depart Cheetah View Lodge and drive to Etosha National Park, arriving at Mushara Bush Camp, located near the Namutoni Gate. The camp provides a comfortable base from which to explore one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife reserves.
In the afternoon, your guide may take you on your first game drive into Etosha National Park, returning to the camp in time to freshen up for dinner. Alternatively, you may prefer to relax at the camp, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and soaking in the bushveld atmosphere.
Etosha offers a wealth of wildlife to observe. Zebras, gemsbok, and a variety of antelope are almost guaranteed sights, while elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, and cheetahs may also appear over the next few days. With expert guidance from your safari guide, you will explore the best areas for wildlife viewing and plan the day’s excursions to maximize sightings.
Days 9–10 – Exploring Etosha National Park
The next two days are dedicated to immersing yourself in the diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife of Etosha National Park. With winding roads, expansive plains, and numerous waterholes, there will be ample opportunity to experience the park’s unique flora and fauna.
Lunch arrangements are flexible. You may choose to return to the lodge, visit one of the resorts within the park, or enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic location if you prefer to spend the full day exploring. Each afternoon, you will exit the park before sunset, allowing time to return to Mushara Bush Camp to freshen up and relax before dinner.

Day 11 – Journey to the Okavango River and Hakusembe River Lodge
After an early breakfast at Mushara Bush Camp, depart northwest toward the lush riverine environments of northern Namibia. The drive takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, with interesting stops along the way to break up the journey and explore local highlights.
En route, visit Lake Otjikoto and the Hoba Meteorite, the world’s largest iron meteorite, providing a striking contrast to Namibia’s desert landscapes. As you continue into the Kavango and Caprivi Regions, the scenery gradually transforms from arid plains to verdant riverine environments, highlighting the diversity of Namibia’s landscapes.
Arrive in the late afternoon at Hakusembe River Lodge, situated on the banks of the Okavango River. Here, you have the option to embark on a sundowner boat excursion, enjoying the tranquil river, its abundant birdlife, and the warm glow of the African sunset.

Arrive at Divava Okavango Lodge & Spa in the late afternoon. You may choose to take a short game drive in Mahango Game Park, returning to the lodge before sunset. For those seeking more activity, short game drives into the park that surrounds your tree-island lodge are available, providing a chance to spot wildlife and take in the peaceful landscapes. Day 16 – Travel to Chobe Safari Lodge, Botswana
After breakfast, depart Bwabwata National Park and continue east across the Caprivi region, passing through Katima Mulilo, the administrative capital. Cross the border into Botswana at Ngoma Bridge, entering Chobe National Park, and continue on a scenic game drive through the park en route to Kasane. The total drive time today is approximately two hours.
Arrive in Kasane, a small but bustling town perched on a hillside along the eastern boundary of Chobe National Park, with sweeping views over the Chobe River and surrounding floodplains. Settle in at Chobe Safari Lodge in the early afternoon before heading out on a captivating game drive within Chobe National Park. This is an excellent opportunity to observe abundant elephants, plains game, and the possibility of encountering large predators.
Today also marks the farewell to your Ultimate Safaris guide, who will return to Windhoek after dropping you off at Chobe Safari Lodge.

Day 17 – Chobe River Boat Safari and Wildlife Exploration
This morning, embark on a boat drive along the Chobe River in an open game-viewing boat, exploring the lush riverfront within Chobe National Park. Observe and sketch the abundant wildlife as you cruise along, enjoying the unique perspective that a river safari provides.
Return to Chobe Safari Lodge in the late morning for lunch and some leisure time. This is an ideal moment to work on sketches from the morning, adding colour washes and capturing the essence of the wildlife and landscapes observed.
In the afternoon, set out on a scenic Chobe River cruise, passing riverfront habitats and several river islands teeming with wildlife. The area is renowned for its prolific birdlife, including raptors, geese, ducks, and flocks of yellow-billed and open-billed storks. Along the riverbanks, spot hippos, crocodiles, red lechwe, waterbuck, reedbuck, and the rare puku antelope, which occurs only here in southern Africa. Other wildlife includes giraffe, impala, lion, buffalo, and an extraordinary number of elephants, often seen drinking, bathing, or even swimming across the river to reach the Namibian savannah.

Day 18 – Transfer to Victoria Falls
At the pre-arranged time, depart Chobe Safari Lodge for either Kasane Airport or a road transfer to Victoria Falls, a scenic drive of approximately two hours. Arrive at the edge of the mighty Victoria Falls, one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders.
Depending on your arrival time, take the opportunity to relax at your lodge or embark on a guided tour of Victoria Falls (optional, additional cost, bookable directly at the lodge). Over the next two nights, you will stay on a bed and breakfast basis at Ilala Lodge, with ample time to paint, sketch, and explore the surrounding area. The roar of the Falls can be heard from the hotel, and at dawn, it is a magical experience to watch the sunrise through the spray cloud, with the historic iron bridge silhouetted against the river.
Dinner tonight is at your own leisure and can be enjoyed either in-house at the lodge or at one of the popular restaurants in Victoria Falls town.

Day 19 – Victoria Falls at Leisure
Today is a full day to explore Victoria Falls and its surroundings at your own pace. Guests may choose to enjoy the falls in a relaxed manner, or take part in a variety of adrenaline activities (all optional, additional cost) including white-water rafting, bungee jumping, sundowner cruises on the Zambezi River, elephant-back safaris, and lion encounters.
For those preferring a slower pace, a visit to Victoria Falls National Park offers hours of awe-inspiring scenery. Lunch can be enjoyed at the park café, followed by a return to the lodge for an afternoon swim, tea on the terrace, or a stroll through the nearby Craft Village to observe and sketch local stone sculptures.

Day 20 – Departure from Victoria Falls
Today, guests are collected from Ilala Lodge and transferred to Victoria Falls International Airport for their onward flights.
For early risers, there is the option to witness the sunrise over Victoria Falls, capturing the dramatic light as it illuminates the spray in soft yellows, pinks, and oranges, with the canyon trees silhouetted against the sky. This unforgettable moment provides a perfect final memory of the Falls and your safari adventure.
Upon arrival at the airport, you will have time to check in for your international departure flight, bringing your remarkable journey through Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe to a close.
