Day 1: Cape Town

On arrival at the Cape Town International Airport you will meet your Safari Director in the arrivals terminal. Depending on your time of arrival we will either head straight to the hotel or detour via the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

The Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are truly spectacular and you may take a walk on the paved walkways to stretch your legs or find some sustenance in one of the fine restaurants.

Once your room is ready we will head off to the hotel where you can check in and put up your feet to rest.

Day 2: Cape Town

After a leisurely breakfast you will meet your Safari Director in the foyer and depart for the scenic drive around the Cape Peninsula.

Our first stop is at Cape Point National Park where you may take the Flying Dutchman Funicular for a short ride up the hill to the Old Lighthouse. If you are feeling fit you may choose to do the brisk walk to the lighthouse instead.

We stop off at the Cape of Good Hope for some pictures and then we exit the park to our next stop at Boulders Beach where we visit the African Penguin Colony.

We continue on to Simonstown to learn about Just Nuisance, the most famous dog in the Royal Navy during the early 1940's. There are several fine restaurants where you may have your lunch.

We then return to the hotel via the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive with great views over Hout Bay.

There is an opportunity to do some walking so wearing of comfortable walking shoes is advised. 

The cold sea air may be uncomfortable so be prepared and carry a warm jacket.

Day 3: Cape Town

Today we will take the Cableway to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting).

This is followed by a historical City Tour through the old part of Cape Town.

You have a choice this afternoon to either go to Robben Island World Heritage Site or explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront before going back to your hotel.

If you plan to visit Robben Island, this must be booked directly and well in advance as the tickets typically sell out weeks in advance.

Day 4: Stellenbosch

This morning we check out of the hotel and drive to the Paarl Wine Region where we do a Cellar Tour and a wine tasting at the historical KWV Cellar. KWV celebrated their centenary in 2018 and this wine cellar covers an area of over 50 acres.

From KWV we go to Fairview Wine Estate for a Wine & Cheese Pairing of eight of their award winning wines and cheese varieties all of which are manufactured on the estate. If you wish to stop for lunch after all the cheese, you may enjoy a light lunch at the Goatshed Bistro next to the tasting room.

From Fairview we go to Reyneke Wines which is a fully organic wine farm to taste their wines and then proceed on to Stellenbosch to check in at your hotel. This afternoon and evening you may explore the historical town of Stellenbosch and dine in one of the fine restaurants.

There is a little walking to be done on the cellar tour but no special clothing is required. Remember that the temperatures in a wine cellar are usually maintained at between 18 & 22 deg C or (64 - 71 deg F).

Day 5: Hermanus

After breakfast we check out and drive through the scenic Franschhoek Wine Region crossing over the mountains along the Franschhoek Pass going down to the Southern Coast to Hermanus located on the Whale Coast.

Hermanus is recognized as one of the premier shore based whale viewing areas in the world. This afternoon you can explore the Hermanus Whale Walk  on top of the 30 meter high cliffs to view the Southern Right Whales as they come in to the base of the cliffs bordering Walker Bay. 

Relax over a scrumptious dinner tonight in one of the fine restaurants while you enjoy the magnificent sunset over Walker Bay.

Day 6: Hermanus

Today we explore the Ocean. We join the crew at Dyer Island Cruises for the Marine Big Five tour to find the beautiful marine creatures.

Visit their African Penguin rehab center to learn about their successful conservation program.

In the afternoon you may either relax  in Hermanus which is recognized as one of the best land-based whale viewing spots in the world.

Day 7: Oudtshoorn

We check out of our lodge after breakfast and travel to the region known as the Little Karoo. This is home to the Ostrich Industry in South Africa.

This afternoon you will do a tour on the Safari Ostrich Showfarm to learn more about these amazing birds.

We check in late in the afternoon at our lodge, De Zeekoe, which is located on the adjoining farm producing the key fodder used for feeding the ostriches, Lucerne also known as Alfalfa.

Day 8: Stormsriver

It is an early call this morning in order to travel to the Meerkat den and be in position by sunrise as the cute little Meerkats (Suricate) emerge from their den a short while after sunrise.

We only observe the Meerkats going about their morning rituals and we do not interfere or interact with them directly. They may come very close to us because we are seen as part of the landscape which the Meerkats discovered upon emerging from their den this morning.

We return to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast before checking out to continue our journey to Knysna where you may enjoy lunch at the Knysna Waterfront or similar.

After lunch we have another one hour drive to reach the very quaint Storms River Village where we book in at the Storms River Village Inn.

Day 9: Stormsriver

This morning we join Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours for a great adventure and do the acclaimed Tree Top Canopy Tour  in the indigenous coastal forest after which we take the short drive to Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Center where we do the Wildcat Tour.

Both Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours and Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Center are FAIR TRADE ACCREDITED and they do sterling work to uplift the community and to preserve our environment.

There is an option (time permitting) for you to visit the largest free roaming primate sanctuary of Monkeyland and the adjoining Birds of Eden sanctuary. A truly wonderful uplifting experiences to end your day of adventure.

Day 10: Addo Elephant National Park

We have an early breakfast and drive to the historical city of Port Elizabeth en route to Addo Elephant Park

We ensure that we arrive at Addo Elephant Park in time for lunch and we check in to our chalets after lunch. I the afternoon we head into the National Park to view the wild animals in the indigenous Addo Bush till the park closes at sunset.

This evening you may enjoy a dinner at the Park Steakhouse Restaurant and then drift down to the floodlit waterhole to view the animals coming in to drink water.

You are on an open safari vehicle for your Game Drive so dress warm as the evening air can be quite cool when the sun sets.

Day 11: Addo Elephant National Park

Today you will view the wild animals in their natural habitat. You gout early for the morning Game Drive returning for a late breakfast.

We return to the Addo Rest Camp during the middle of the day and then you do the evening Game Drive returning at sunset in time for you to have dinner and relax at the waterhole again.

Day 12: End of Itinerary

This morning there is time for us to do your last Game Drive in the Addo National Park.

We return in time for breakfast and your Safari ends after breakfast when you check out of the Chalet. Your transfer to the Port Elizabeth Airport will take approximately one hour so you may connect for your onward journey.
