Arrival at Windhoek International Airport. Meet & Greet with our Eagles Rock Tours representative. Take possession of your vehicle and drive to Omaanda Lodge 45 from the airport. Depending on the flight arrival time possibility to participate in one of the many exciting activities the lodge has to offer. Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast depart for Onguma The Fort on the eastern border of the Etosha National Park. In the afternoon undertake a first game drive in the park with your own vehicle. If so wanted and arrival time permits, you have the option of participating in a guided Etosha game drive in open vehicles organized by the lodge. Return to base with sunset. Dinner and overnight.
The next morning depart early with the chance to see the nocturnal predators on the move before they retire for the day. The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the park. Check in at Okaukuejo before sunset. After dinner sit down at theilluminated waterhole and wait for the nocturnal spectacle unfold before you, when rhino, elephant and maybe hyena and lion come to drink.
After breakfast leave for the rugged mountain region of Damaraland, but not before having visited the Omapaha traditional Himba village on your way south. Arrive at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge in the later afternoon. Check in, relax and enjoy a sundowner before dinner and a good night sleep afterwards.
The next morning visit the engravings of Twyfelfontein, the Organ Pipes and the Burnt Mountain. and if so wanted the Damara Living Museum. In the afternoon participate in the Ephemeral River Drive in search for the desert adapted elephants. These gentle giants are resident in the region and roam the valleys and riverbeds in the area in search for food and water.
Destination today is the central west coast and Swakopmund via Uis and Henties Bay. Visit the Sheila shipwreck en route. arrive in town in the early afternoon and check in at Casa al Mare Guesthouse before setting off to explore the town. Dinner will in one of Swakopmund's fine restaurants and is not included, but on your own account.
The next morning drive to Walvis Bay for the Marine Dune Day. The tour starts with a dolphin cruise in the bay of this port town. Visit the seal colony at Pelican Point, go in search of the bottle nose and benguela dolphins (with a bit of luck you might even spot a whale) and marvel at the marine avifauna that follow the boats. Towards the end of the cruise enjoy an oyster- and champagne-based brunch on the boat. Upon return to port embark in an off-road vehicle for your Sandwich Harbour 4x4 adventure that takes you along the beach to the freshwater lagoon of sandwich Harbour and back through the dune belt of the southern coastal Namib Desert. Return to the guesthouse in the early evening. Dinner is again on your own account and will be served in a restaurant.
Leave for the southern Namib Desert and Sossusvlei. Visit the Moon Landscape outside Swakopmund en route. The road leads through the gravel desert, the Kuiseb and the Ghaub Canyons. Recommended is a lunch stop at Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge for an exquisite culinary experience. Then stop over at Solitaire for a piece of the famous apple crumple baked freshly in the Moose Mc Gregor bakery. Continue for the last leg of today's journey and reach Sossusvlei Lodge in the early evening.
The next morning is an early start to see the sunrise from amidst the first dunes of the Sosusvlei area. Climb Dune 45, walk to Dead Vlei and visit the Sesriem Canyon on your way back to the lodge. in the early evening you have the opportunity to participate in a leisurely sunset excursion to see the sun settle over the western horizion while sipping a glass of good wine. Return will be after dark and in time for dinner in the al fresco restaurant.
Sossusvlei Lodge sunset drive
After a leisurely breakfast depart for the Namibrand Nature Reserve and Wolwedans Dune Camp some 75 km further south-west from Sossusvlei Lodge. after arrival and your check in you will be taken to Wolwedans Dune Camp, your save haven for the next two nights. After a light lunch and a little siesta depart for an afternoon nature drive that includes a sundowner stop.
The next day you will participate in morning and afternoon nature drives interrupted by lunch at the lodge.
For the second-last leg of your journey the route leads east into the Kalahari and Zebra Kalahari Lodge. Arrival there will be in the early afternoon. After check in and a little siesta depart on a a last game drive that takes you through to sunset, which will be watched from the top of a dune while sipping a glass of good wine or champagne. Then return for dinner and overnight.
All good things to end and so today you leave for the airport to catch your flight back to Italy.
