Day 1: Maun

Upon arriving at Maun Airport, you'll be greeted by a Roots and Journeys representative.  They will warmly welcome you to Botswana and assist in showing you to your connecting transfer. 

The first evening will be spent in Maun at Discovery B&B, which is the perfect place to have a relaxing first afternoon in Botswana. This will give you a chance to get a good night's sleep before heading off into the Okavango Delta tomorrow. Here you will also have a brief introductory Welcome Talk to go over the adventures planned for the coming days.

Day 2: Okavango Delta

After breakfast you depart Maun and set off for your adventure at Tswii Mokoro Trails. It is a 40 minute road transfer to our private mokoro station.  Upon arrival here you will set out in the mokoro, embarking on your next 3 night adventure. 

This will be your first taste of the being on the waters of the Okavango Delta.

You'll spend the night camping on an island in the Delta; an unforgettable experience. Listen to the sounds of the bell frogs as the sun sets and later gather around the campfire to hear your host recount tales and stories from a life in the bush.

Day 3: Okavango Delta

Waking up to a warm cup of tea or coffee and coming out of your tent in on a remote island in the Delta is a memorable moment.  

The day will comprise of time in the mokoro and bush walks. There's no set routine here and you will set out in the mekoro, seeing whatever wonders the Delta has to offers you. 

Stop off to explore remote islands, adventure and explore at your own pace. The day can encompass being shown and taught so many things by our knowledgable guides; from trying to spot the tiniest well camouflaged reed-frog, to identifying the calls of iconic bird species, to finding the larger species such as hippo and crocodile that reside in the water. Or, just sit back and take in the remarkable beauty if the Delta.

Day 4: Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Today you will leave your camp by mokoro and head back to the Tswii Mokoro Station, hopefully ready for the next part of your adventure. You will then travel by road toward the Central Kalahari Game Reserve which will take approximately 3.5 - 4 hours.

Upon arrival at Great Tsau Hill you'll have time to settle in and be shown around camp by the Managers. There will be an afternoon game drive to familiarise yourself with your new surroundings, taking in the incredible landscape of the CKGR. 

Enjoy a relaxing sundowner atop the Great Tsau Hill, overlooking the panoramic views of the savannah is the perfect way to spend your first evening here.

Day 5: Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Spend the morning with the San Bushmen are an indigenous hunter-gatherer people in Botswana. They will share with you their culture, heritage and skills that have been passed down for generations. This is an authentic, spiritual, historical and cultural experience. 

After a well earned lunch, siesta and high tea,  this afternoon head out on a game drive. Instead of returning to the main camp, you'll continue your adventure even further into the remote CKGR. Your game drive will finish up at your privately set up fly-camp.

You'll spend the night on a sleep-out. Make the most of the unrivalled views of the night sky and opt to do some stargazing in the after dinner. Learn the constellations, search for the planets, or just simply sit back and take in the wonder of the Milky Way.

Day 6: Central Kalahari Game Reserve

The morning is the perfect time to follow the tracks from the night before. You can head into the bush by foot to specific waterholes looking for the famous black-maned lion, oryx and brown hyena.  

You'll return to the main camp following your sleep out adventure, and may opt to spend the afternoon relaxing in camp, or you may wish to try out our e-bikes, an alternative and great way to see the surrounding area.

You may want to enjoy your sundowners back atop the Great Tsau Hill, and possibly one last night drive.

Day 7: End of Itinerary

Departing from Great Tsau Hill after breakfast, you'll head out by road toward Maun for an approximate 4-4.5 hour transfer.
