Arrive in Nairobi and check into the Trademark Hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. After clearing immigration and collecting your luggage you will be met by your driver for the short transfer to the hotel. Settle into your room, perhaps enjoy a swim or a massage at the spa, and take a gentle stroll through the hotel gardens or nearby shopping area if your flight lands early enough. Dinner is at your own leisure—Nairobi has excellent restaurants nearby, or you can dine at the hotel.
Depart early morning to Mbita / Rusinga Island, Then take the boat and cruise across Lake Victoria to Mfangano Island and Mfangano Camp. The short, scenic boat ride offers wonderful birdwatching and perhaps a glimpse of hippos and crocodiles. Upon arrival at the intimate Mfangano Camp you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink and shown to your private cottage. Spend the day discovering the island’s ancient rock art, visiting a local fishing village, or joining a guided fishing excursion on the lake. Return to camp for a sunset drink on the deck and a superb dinner featuring fresh lake fish.
Transfer by boat from Mfangano Island to Takawiri Island and Victoria Sands on a full-board basis. The morning transfer is relaxed and picturesque, with time to spot more of Lake Victoria’s wildlife en route. At Takawiri you settle into your luxurious beachfront accommodation and enjoy the private-island atmosphere—swim in the clear waters, lounge on the white-sand beach, or take a guided nature walk through the island’s forests. Afternoon options include a sunset dhow cruise or simply unwinding with a book and a cocktail. Dinner is served on the beach or on your private deck.
Tramsfer by boat to Rusinga Island. Once on the water, the ride to the island is filled with views of fishermen, water birds and the distant hills. Check into your accommodation at Victoria Sands (near Ruma National Park) and enjoy a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, you can explore Ruma National Park in search of the rare roan antelope and black rhino (on extra costs), or simply relax on the beach with a cold drink. Drive to the Migori–Tarime border and cross into Serengeti National Park, continuing into the northern Serengeti.
The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations, famed for its vast plains and the Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeest and zebra move in search of fresh grazing.
Predator sightings are exceptional here, with lions, cheetahs, and leopards frequently seen across the open savannah.
On the second day in Serengeti National Park, enjoy extended game drives across the vast plains. Mwanza is beautifully set on the southern shores of Lake Victoria and is known for its striking granite rock formations that give the city a dramatic and distinctive landscape. A highlight of any visit is a boat tour on Lake Victoria.
