Days 8 - 10: Manyoni Private Game Reserve

Depart from Pt Elizabeth Airport for the Short Flight to Durban where you will be collected for a drive thru Kwzulu Natal into the heart of Zuluand and the Manyoni Private Game Reserve.

The impetus for forming the reserve in 2004 was to provide a home to a population of black rhinos as part of the WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Project. The joining of the properties created a 23,000-hectare private game reserve in the heart of Zululand, in one of the most animal-rich and species-diverse areas of South Africa and one of the premier wildlife-viewing destinations in Kwa-Zulu Natal and we are one of the most beautiful reserves in the area with varied landscapes from acacia thornveld to open savannah to riverine forest. Game drives on the reserve are regulated and coordinated by the ecotourism businesses to minimize the impact on the environment and the stress on the animals and to provide guests a better and more intimate game viewing experience.

The safari experience at Rhino Sands revolves around two daily game drives conducted by expert game rangers and take place on open safari vehicles, with no more than six people per vehicle, ensuring comfortable space and prime game-viewing ability for each guest. The area is well known for its plentiful game viewing of iconic African species like lion, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and many many more.

Enjoy your stay for the next three days.

Over the next few days, awaken at dawn, accompanied by the early morning sounds and smells of the African bushveld, is an experience unique to early risers.  This is often the best time for game viewing.  Keep your camera ready!  This reserve has the big five and wonderful birdlife just waiting to be photographed.   Walks through the veld with an experienced tracker and day and night-time drives through the veld in an open landrover are all included.

Experience a night drive that brings you closer to the magic of the nocturnal wildlife, thriving under the clear, star studded sky while spotlights provide the opportunity to view the nocturnal wildlife.  Back at the lodge enjoy the comforts of a log fire and sissling sosaties as tales of Old White Hunters and African myths are told in the evening, as the fire roars, and laughter fills the air.  But no more than a little walk away, the wind blows over the river.  Suddenly the air is split by an elephant’s trumpeting.  A primordial warped note of oldest Africa
