Departing Cape Town by 08:30 am, head out along the N1 through the Du Toit’s Kloof tunnel, joining the beautifully scenic Route 62 after Worcester and then through the towns of Robertson, Ashton and Montagu before arriving a short while later at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. You need to arrive at the entrance gate by 12:00 pm for security clearance and then proceed another 20 minutes through the reserve to the Welcome Lounge. Enjoy a refreshment before being transferred to your lodge and a sumptuous lunch before settling into your room/luxury safari tent.
One of the true joys of Sanbona is the freedom to do nothing at all in absolute luxury, but for those who choose to venture beyond the comfort of the lodge, a world of new experiences awaits… Game Drives, Birdwatching, Star Gazing, Rock Art, Rock Formations and Fauna & Flora are just some of the options.
Sundowner evening drives offer spectacular displays of light as the evening sunsets over the Little Karoo. Traverse the landscape of Sanbona Wildlife Reserve with a qualified ranger in comfortable open Landcruisers. During the drive, various species of plants, animals, big game and birds can be seen in the Karoo bushveld.
Upon return, enjoy some pre-dinner drinks and then settle in for a delicious dinner at the lodge before retiring for the night.
Take the hassle out of driving and book transfers to/from Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. You have the choice of direct and private transfers with African Blue Tours, we suggest a direct transfer to Sanbona and private transfer back to Cape Town where we can slow things down and explore the small towns, beautiful scenery, wine routes and amazing mountain passes.
Awake to the sounds of the bush and depart on another exciting 3 hour game drive as the bush awakens to a new day. Return for breakfast before check out and depart the lodge and arrive back at the Welcome Lounge around midday, to meet up with your own vehicle or driver for your onward journey.
Enjoy a private transfer back to Cape Town, which will offer much greater flexibility with the chance to do some exploring in the afternoon. Take the scenic route over the Bainskloof, Du Toits Kloof or Franschhoek Mountain Passes and enjoy some optional wine tasting in either the Robertson, Wellington, Paarl, Stellenbosch or Franschhoek wine regions.
