If you want to we can extend your holiday with 2 days and you visit Kolmanskoppe and Luderitz at the coast. (optional/additional)

From Namtib and the Tiras Mountains continue your travel to the Fish River Canyon.

When you gaze upon the striking beauty of the The Fish River Canyon, it is easy to see why it is the second most visited tourist site in Namibia. Every year hundreds of hikers from all over the world gear up to brave the extremes along a 90km trail from the eastern side and all vow to do it again.

The Fish River Lodge offers a unique canyon hiking experience to small parties of guests. Set in the western side of the Fish River Canyon, the 45 000ha Canyon Nature Park offers exclusive hiking and 4×4 access down into the canyon where 74km of the Fish River meanders through the privately-owned park.

To experience the beauty and serenity first hand, lace up your hiking boots, grab your binoculars and join us on a private journey along and down into the canyon.

At 45 000ha, the park is a vast and rugged landscape of flat-topped rocky mountains and dry plains. A myriad of washes and side ravines carve deep furrows down to the main canyon. Fascinating plants and trees adapted to this harsh environment add splashes of green and feed the wildlife that survive against the odds.

To preserve this amazing part of Namibia, Canyon Nature Park has joined the partnership of the Greater Fish River Canyon Complex, a trans boundary collaboration between parks and conservation agencies and private landowners in the Richtersveld (South Africa), the Huns mountains and /Ais /Ais Game Park, Namibia. The collaboration focuses on a broad-based approach to conservation and sustainable natural resource management and socio-economic development.

Previously a marginalised farming area, the biodiversity of this arid region was threatened by agricultural activities. Canyon Nature Park has turned the fortunes of the fauna and flora around by embracing a return to wildlife conservation and low-impact tourism as a means to socio-economic development in the southern parts of the country.

Two farms — Soutkuil (where the lodge and canyon are located) and Vergeleë (to its northwest) have been joined to make up the Canyon Nature Park.

The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa was established on 31 July 1931 mainly to protect the migrating game, especially the gemsbok, from poaching. In 1948 an informal verbal agreement was made between the then Bechuanaland Protectorate and the Union of South Africa to set up a conservation area in the contiguous areas of the two lands. On 12 May 2000, Botswana and South Africa formally launched Southern Africa’s first peace park, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The total area of the park is 37.256 km². Approximately three-quarters of the park lies in Botswana and one-quarter in South Africa.

Days 15 - 16: Springbok

On the N14 you drive through barren area to Springbok, where you spend two nights in Kleinplasie Guesthouse.

The Goegap Nature Reserve (pronounced guchap) lies west of Springbok.

Namaqualand is one of the driest regions in South Africa. But for about two to three months a year - in the months of July, August and September, sometimes even October - the parched landscape becomes a sea of flowers.

In the short flowering season, the Namaqualand shines in all colors. It literally gets colorful in the rainbow nation. In the otherwise arid semi-desert region of Karoo in northwestern South Africa, millions and millions of wildflowers bloom over miles of hills, dunes and mountain slopes.

The ideal time to experience this natural phenomenon varies and depends on the precipitation. To see and experience the flower carpets in Namaqualand in their full glory unfortunately requires a not so easy timing - when and where the flower reaches its peak can not be predicted long term.
