Day 1: Ollantaytambo

Your trek begins at the famous Km 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail.

Follow the Urubamba River as the path slowly climbs into the Andes. Along the way, pass the ancient ruins of Patallacta, an early glimpse into Inca history. After around 5 hours of hiking, arrive at your first campsite in Wayllabamba, surrounded by mountains.

Day 2: Ollantaytambo

Today is the most challenging day of the trek.

Start early and hike uphill along steep stone paths, with beautiful views along the way. Reach the highest point of the trail, Warmihuañusca Pass (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,200 m. From here, descend to your campsite at Pacaymayo.

Day 3: Ollantaytambo

Today offers some of the most scenic sections of the trail.

Visit the ruins of Runkurakay, then continue through cloud forest trails to Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca. The path is filled with mist, greenery, and Inca stonework.

Later, reach Wiñay Wayna, one of the most impressive sites on the trail, where you’ll camp for the night.

Day 4: End of Itinerary

Start very early for your final walk to Inti Punku (Sun Gate).

From here, see your first view of Machu Picchu as the sun rises over the mountains. Continue down to the citadel and explore the site with your guide, including terraces, temples, and key landmarks.

Later, head down to Aguas Calientes, then take the train to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer back to Cusco.
