Day 1: Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you'll be met by our team and taken to your hotel for check-in. 

Depending on the time of your arrival, you might have time for some excursions in Nairobi.

Optional excursions (at an extra cost): Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - visit the orphaned baby elephants at feeding time (11am); Giraffe Centre - feed the endangered Rothschild Giraffes by hand from an elevated platform; Karen Blixuen Museum - explore the house of famed author of Our of Africa. 

Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Nairobi.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, you'll be picked up from your Nairobi Hotel and taken to Wilson Airport for your flight to Nanyuki.

Flight: Nairobi to Nanyuki 

  • Depart Nairobi at 10.20am; land in Nanyuki at 11.20am.
  • Baggage allowance for checked in bags and hand luggage combined  is 15kg, preferably in soft bags. 

You'll be picked up from Nanyuki Airport and transferred to your safari camp in Ol Pejeta Conservancy with a short game drive en-route. Check in at the camp and have lunch. In the late afternoon, set off for a game drive, returning to the camp for dinner.

 

Day 3: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Full day in Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Choose to do a full day game drive with picnic lunch, or morning and evening game drives, returning to the camp for lunch and to enjoy the facilities of the camp. Night drives are also available, with a spotlight, to spot rarely seen nocturnal animals.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy has an incredible range of activities and excursions. 

Optional excursions (some of these are included in the rate, and others have an extra charge):

Endangered species enclosure: behind the scenes visit to the last remaining Northern White Rhinos. Visiting times are 8.30am or 4.30pm, and group sizes are restricted to six people. The enclosure is also home to endangered Grevy's zebra and Jackson's hartebeest. 

Ol Pejeta Lion Tracking: a unique opportunity to learn about and track the lions of Ol Pejeta, and contribute towards conservation efforts. Lion tracking times are 6.30-8.30am or 3.30-5.30pm. You can help gather vital research information needed to monitor the collared lions. In the event that the collared lions are inaccessible, other lion sightings are reported and identifying features such as whisker spots, ear tears and nose spotting recorded. It's a great way to learn about lions and all the information gathered is passed on to the Ol Pejeta Ecological Monitoring Department.

Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary: visit the chimpanzees, many of whom have been rescued from war zones, and learn about their day-to-day life. For an extra special experience, go behind the scenes at the chimpanzee sanctuary, available at 12pm and 5pm. 

Dog tracking: visit the anti-poaching dog unit and learn about what it takes to look after the highly trained canine team. After a tour of the kennels, clients are encouraged to try and evade the sniffer dogs. Available daily at 8:30am.

Baraka the blind rhino: near the Morani Information Centre, you can meet Baraka, who is completely blind and entirely dependent on humans for his survival. 

Morani Information Centre: learn about the various species of wildlife on the conservancy and get comprehensive information on how a modern wildlife conservancy works. Open daily from 7am to 6.30pm.

Morani's Bar and Restaurant: stop for a snack or lunch during your game drive. Morani’s offers a great selection of coffees, freshly cooked food, shakes and smoothies, take-away snacks and drinks.

Guided bush and bird walk: walking on the plains of Ol Pejeta, you'll enjoy a unique game viewing perspective whilst being given a brief insight into what it takes to be an Ol Pejeta ranger. Available daily at 6.30-9.30am and 3.30-5.30pm.

Horse riding: ride with the endangered white rhinos in their 600-acre boma or gallop across the Ol Pejeta plains and visit Sudan’s grave. Get closer to wildlife than in a safari vehicle. Available daily at 10am and 3pm.

Become a Junior Ranger: Kids between the ages of 4 and 12 can become a Junior Ranger for a day by completing the exciting adventure designed for them. Available daily from Rongai Gate, Morani’s Restaurant or Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Choose to do a full day game drive with a picnic lunch at a scenic spot, or morning and evening game drives, returning to the camp for lunch and to enjoy the facilities of the camp. Night drives are also available, with a spotlight, to spot rarely seen nocturnal animals.

Activities and Services

Day 5: Watamu

After breakfast, check out and take a final game drive to Nanyuki, for your flight to Nairobi, an on to Malindi.

Flight: Nanyuki to Malindi via Nairobi

  • Depart Nanyuki at 11.25am and land in Nairobi at 1.15pm; depart Nairobi at 2pm and land in Malindi at 3.15pm. 
  • Baggage allowance for checked in bags and hand luggage combined  is 15kg, preferably in soft bags. 

On arrival in Malindi, you'll be met and taken to your resort in Watamu. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying the resort's facilities and activities, and exploring the beach.

Day 6: Watamu

Full day in Watamu. Spend the day at leisure, enjoying the beach and the resort's facilities, or do some activities and excursions:

Turtle Bay has a supervised Kid’s Club, open daily from 10am-1pm and 3-9pm. All kids between 4-12 years can join and have fun with action packed games, swimming competitions, arts and crafts, field trips, cooking lessons, videos and more. Tarzan’s Tree House, set in tropical gardens, and a Kids Fort by the swimming pool, are Fun Zones for all children. In the evening younger children can dine early and together on freshly cooked simple food. Parents can enjoy their holiday while the resort takes care of their children. Baby sitting service on request.

Entertainment for the whole family: during the day, choose from Tennis, Beach Soccer, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Water Aerobics and more. In the evening, enjoy Traditional African Tribal Dancers, Theme Nights, Acrobats, Quiz Nights, Snake Shows or Dancing under a tropical starlit sky with live music or disco.

Other optional activities (some included in the rates, and others at an extra charge): bird watching, deep sea fishing, water sports and dhow cruises. Interesting visits are to Mida Creek, Gede Ruins, Arabuko Sokoke, and local conservation projects including the Watamu Marine Conservation and Watamu Turtle Watch.

Watamu also has some wonderful restaurants and beach bars.

Full day in Watamu. Spend the day at leisure, enjoying the beach and the resort's facilities, or do some activities and excursions:

Day 8: End of Itinerary

Spend the morning on the beach or at the resort, before returning to the airport for your flight back to Nairobi.

Flight: Malindi to Nairobi

  • Depart from Malindi Airport at 3.30pm; arrive at Wilson Airport in Nairobi at 4.45pm.
  • Baggage allowance for checked in bags and hand luggage combined  is 15kg, preferably in soft bags. 

On landing at Wilson Airport, you'll be met and taken directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure.
