Day 3: Paris

Sat. 5 Dec 2026

PARIS AND CHATEAU VAUX-LE-VICOMTE

Depart the hotel on foot and take the Paris Métro to begin our guided visit of the Île de la Cité.  Visit Sainte-Chapelle. Begun in 1239, its soaring stained-glass windows and delicate Gothic structure create one of the most extraordinary sacred spaces in Europe.

Examine the exterior of the newly restored Notre-Dame Cathedral. Construction began in 1163 and was completed in 1345. Damaged and restored several times over the centuries, it remains one of the largest and finest examples of Gothic architecture anywhere. If entry wait times are reasonable, we will step inside to experience the restored nave.

Lunch features traditional Breton-style crêpes, savory galettes followed by a sweet crêpe for dessert, a simple and quintessentially French midday meal.

This afternoon, drive into the countryside for a special holiday visit to Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. Completed in 1661, the château is regarded as one of the great masterpieces of 17th-century French classical architecture and later served as inspiration for Versailles. Today, it remains the largest privately owned château in France.

Each year, the château is transformed according to a unique seasonal theme, with elaborate installations and imaginative creations designed by leading French decorators. Grand salons glow with candlelight, festive trees rise beneath painted ceilings, and tables are artfully set as if awaiting guests. The result is immersive and theatrical, a celebration of French artistry and holiday tradition.

As dusk settles, the visit culminates in a spectacular sound and light presentation projected onto the rear façade of the château, illuminating the gardens and architecture in a magical seasonal finale.

Return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner at leisure.

STRASBOURG

Set out on foot for a guided visit of Strasbourg, capital of Alsace. Begin in the quarter of Petite France, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and canals define one of the city’s most picturesque districts. Once home to tanners, millers, and fishermen, this neighborhood offers a tangible sense of Strasbourg’s medieval past.

Lunch features regional cuisine in a traditional Alsatian restaurant.

The afternoon and evening are at leisure to explore Strasbourg’s Christmas Markets, which fill the historic squares with seasonal lights and activity. Wander among wooden chalets offering handcrafted gifts, ornaments, and regional specialties such as pain d'épices, roasted chestnuts, and steaming mugs of vin chaud.

Each of the city’s ten markets has its own character, from the historic Christkindelsmärik at Place Broglie to artisan stalls at Place Gutenberg. As night falls, the atmosphere deepens, and the city glows under thousands of lights. Strasbourg’s towering Christmas tree at Place Kléber provides a dramatic focal point for an evening immersed in Alsatian holiday tradition.

Expert tips

Your large suitcase will be picked up early this morning and transported to the Oceania hotel by private service. You'll keep only your hand luggage with you throughout the day.

After disembarking the TGV at the CDG train station, there is a walk of approximately 0.5 miles through the airport terminal connection passages to the designated meeting point. From there, we will transfer to the hotel by private motorcoach. The walk is mostly flat, free baggage trolleys and elevators are available.

As you prepare for your return flights, we recommend packing your Christmas Markets treasures in your checked luggage, as CDG airport security is known for rough handling of carry-on items.
