Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and proceed thru customs and immigration formalities into the arrivals hall and look for your driver assist to Karen Gables. 

Karen Gables is a characterful Cape Dutch style private home that sits peacefully off the road in its own verdant gardens. A true home from home, there are numerous private spots to sit and unwind and conveniently located just 30 minutes drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and 15 minutes from Wilson Airport.

The leafy and affluent suburb of Karen sits to the South West of Nairobi towards the foot of the Ngong Hills. Karen still remains largely unspoilt by over-development or traffic jams and is an attractive and peaceful place to stay away from the city centre .  The cosy home, built initially as the private residence of the owner, is fully furnished with WiFi, back up generator guaranteeing 24/7 electricity supply, a solar heated swimming pool and fresh borehole water. Delicious freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and evening meals are available to all guests.

Various rooms include Junior Suites, A large, quirky and inviting suite with a fireplace and en suite shower room. Double doors open onto the lush gardens, Standard Singles or twins, lovely cosy rooms with plenty of natural light, a double bed and en suite shower room, and standard doubles homey and inviting double room with en suite shower room and views across the terraced gardens.

Days 2 - 4: Meru National Park

Elsa’s Kopje is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson’s biographical book and film “Born Free”. The lodge is almost invisible to the eye as you approach its home on Mughwango Hill. It blends into the rocky crags of the “kopje” (small hill), built above the site of George Adamson’s original campsite.

Over the next several days, your emphasis will be on a complete safari experience – fun, intellectually stimulating, oneness with nature. The activities on offer at the Lodge include day & night game drives, guided bush walks, bush meals, sundowners, cultural visits, day excursions to the Tana River, line fishing, massage, and a day trip to the Adamson Camp in Kora.

 

Days 5 - 7: Lewa Conservancy

Following your morning activity proceed to the airstrip to board your flight via Nairobi/Wilson to Lewa Conservancy and Lewa Safari Camp. 

Nestled in the heart of the stunning, privately owned Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is the beautiful Lewa Safari Camp. It is here, with the magnificent snow-capped Mt Kenya as its backdrop to the south and spectacular views to the arid lowlands of the north, that guests can enjoy an unforgettable combination of scenery, hospitality and a plethora of some of Kenya’s most prized wildlife. The central areas of the camp have exquisite gardens with a large sunny verandah and swimming pool to enjoy during the day, and cozy log fires in the lounge and dining room for the more chilly evenings.

Days 8 - 10: Olare Motorogi Conservancy

 

Depart from Lewa Airstrip following breakfast this morning  to the Masai Mara National Reserve where you will enjoy the next three days at Mara Expedition Camp  

For the next three days make your way thru the Masai Mara discovering the extensive wildlife of this region. The camp is in prime leopard territory and the annual wildebeest and zebra migration passes literally in front of your tent in season from July - November, offering you the chance to witness one of the miracles of nature first-hand from the comfort of your verandah.

  

Days 11 - 13: Chyulu Hills National Park

 

This morning following breakfast depart with your driver for transfer to the Wilson Airport.  Board your lite aircraft flight to Chyulu National park and Ol Donyo Airstrip.  

Located on the slopes below Chyulu National Park is Ol Donyo Lodge.  With views of Kilimanjaro, over the open savannahs that make Kenya famous the lodge has only ten sumptuous and spacious suites. Eight ‘Pool Suites’ have private swimming pools while the two ‘Standard suites’ are similar in design and comfort but without private pools. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with a view, including indoor and outdoor showers and a romantic bath. Above each bedroom is the secluded ‘star-beds’ sleep-out area upstairs where guests can, on request, have beds set up for the night. Also, the Lodge has four suites that can be booked out as private villas or family suites.

Enjoy the next three days at Ol Donyo.

Traditional safari activities are on offer, including day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, guided mountain bike rides across the wildlife filled plains and morning or afternoon game-viewing horseback safaris. Foot safaris and wildlife tracking with our Maasai trackers and interacting with our anti-poaching team are activities not to be missed, as are visits to remote Maasai villages that offer guests an authentic cultural experience. Sleep-outs under the stars out on the plains on ‘Seduction Rock’ will remain with guests’ memories forever. A safari highlight for many are the close up encounters with the enormous elephant bulls that frequent the camp’s waterhole just a few meters from the safety of our open-air ‘log-jam’ hide.

Ol Donyo forms the core of a new, sustainable model for conservation which ensures protection of the area’s wildlife through an innovative sharing-of-benefits scheme with the local community and the creation of conservancies.

Day 14: End of Itinerary

Enjoy meals and activities before transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi and your international departure flights.
