Historic Haciendas

Hacienda La Cienega - our driver will pick you up at your Quito hotel in the morning to transfer you north to the border of the Cotopaxi National Park (approx 2 hours journey). If available you will stay in one of the hacienda’s luxury suites made out of volcanic rock and boasting antique furniture as well as some famous past guests. A free afternoon to settle in, explore the gardens and grounds of the hacienda, and acclimatise to your new surroundings.

Cotopaxi horse-back riding – a full day exploring the Cotopaxi National Park on horse-back. On a clear day you can enjoy some sublime views of the Cotopaxi Volcano, the surrounding parklands and other Andean peaks. After a hard day we return to the comfort of Hacienda La Cienega and a welcoming open fireplace

Hacienda Cusin – a morning transfer north towards Otavalo to our second hacienda stay – Hacienda Cusin. Our driver will be happy to stop for photos on route. A free afternoon to explore the hacienda and acclimatise to your new surroundings.

Otavalo, Cotocachi & Cuicocha – a memorable daytrip to explore the best of the surrounding area. The highlight is a visit to worldfamous Otavalo handicraft market to see the colourful local Indians and to shop for bargains. We also visit the town of Cotocachi – famous for leather goods, and the volcanic lake of Cuicocha before heading back to Quito late in the afternoon.
