Arrival in Windhoek

You’ll be picked up at the airport by your tour guide and driven to Windhoek. Your hotel has an outdoor pool and a wellness area, while from the Sky Bar you have a beautiful panoramic view of the Klein Windhoek district. In the afternoon you can go on a city tour.

Day 2: Kalahari Namibia

Drive to the Kalahari semi-desert

Enjoy your first morning in Namibia with a sumptuous breakfast before driving via Windhoek, Rehoboth and Kalkrand into the Kalahari semi-desert. At sunset you take a nature tour in an open off-road vehicle through the red longitudinal dunes, which are up to 30 m high, and are home to the typical flora and fauna of the Kalahari Desert.

Day 3: Sesriem

Sesriem/Sossusvlei

You cross the spectacular Tsaris Pass deep into the Namib Desert, where your lodge is located at the foot of a mountain. The view from the lodge extends across a plain to the red dunes of Sossusvlei and the mountains of the Naukluft, while each chalet is sheltered from the others, allowing a personal encounter with the desert.

Day 4: Sesriem

Excursion to Sossusvlei/Deadvlei

You go on an individual and unforgettable excursion with the lodge to discover the secrets of the desert today. As early as sunrise, you head to the park entrance in a four-wheel drive vehicle before driving 65km along the dry Tsauchab River to Sossusvlei. You hike through thick sand to Deadvlei, where the bizarrely shaped trunks and branches of the trees that died long ago are sure to fascinate. You return to the lodge in the afternoon.

Day 5: Swakopmund

Over the Gaub & Kuiseb Pass to Swakopmund

You pass the Gaub and Kuiseb Passes and cross the central Namib Desert, where you’re sure to see ostriches, but maybe also springboks, zebras, and oryx antelopes. Via Walvis Bay you reach the coastal town of Swakopmund, where you spend the night next to the sea and eat dinner in a restaurant overlooking the ocean.

Day 6: Swakopmund

In the morning you take a very interesting boat trip in the Walvis Bay lagoon, where you’ll see seals, dolphins, flamingos, and pelicans. Many activities are possible in the afternoon (optional), including enjoying the beach, visiting the museum, aquarium or crystal gallery, or quad biking in the dunes.

Day 7: Erongo Mountains

Drive into the Erongo Mountains

You bid farewell to the sea and drive to the Erongo Mountains today, along the way looking north to see the majestic Spitzkoppe, also known as the Matterhorn of Namibia, which rises 600 meters above the plain. Your lodge offers luxurious suites with a magnificent panoramic view of the Erongo Mountains, and many hikes can be undertaken in the wildly beautiful landscape.

Day 8: Ongava Private Game Reserve

To Etosha National Park

Today you want to get to the Etosha National Park as quickly as possible, driving via Outjo to the Ongava Private Game Reserve. Your luxurious, grass-roofed chalet is built from local stone and has a private veranda, while from the restaurant and bar, you have a magnificent view of the plains and the waterhole, which is illuminated at night. In the afternoon you can choose to stay and relax in the beautiful lodge, or your guide can take you to Etosha for your first game drives.

Day 9: Ongava Private Game Reserve

Etosha National Park

The Etosha National Park is one of the largest game reserves in the world and is considered one of the most outstanding game parks in Africa. The animals are attracted by the Etosha Pan, a huge depression that is rarely filled with rainwater, but which at its edge, has many waterholes where numerous animals and birds can be found all year round. You have the whole day to go on game drives with your guide, but if you choose to only stay for the morning, you could book a guided game drive in Ongava's own game reserve (optional), where you’ll probably see rhinos.

Day 10: Etosha East

Drive through the eastern Etosha National Park

You leave the private game reserve of Ongava and drive through the eastern part of Etosha to Mushara, stopping on the way to watch animals such as giraffes, various antelopes, ostriches and, with a bit of luck, elephants and lions at the various waterholes. Make sure to leave the park by sunset, looking out for the Mushara Outpost just a few kilometers from the exit.

Day 11: Waterberg Plateau National Park

You leave the wildlife of Etosha National Park and drive, via Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo, to the legendary Waterberg. On the way to Tsumeb you can visit Lake Otjikoto, where German World War I soldiers sank their cannons in 1915. The Waterberg is a natural paradise with unique vegetation, and is known for its rare animal species, colourful birdlife, and magnificent landscape.

Day 12: Okonjima Nature Reserve

In the morning, you can hike up to the Waterberg plateau with your guide and get to see almost all the different types of trees and shrubs that Namibia has to offer. The magnificent view of the vast savannah from the top is ample reward for the climb. Afterwards, a short drive will get you to Okonjima Bush Camp, an exclusive camp situated in a 22,000-hectare private nature reserve in the middle of the Omboroko Mountains. Check into your comfortable, detached bungalow before indulging in a wonderful lunch which has been prepared in anticipation of your arrival. A game drive is booked for you in the afternoon, during which you’ll go in search of a leopard before rounding off the evening with a delicious dinner.

Day 13: Zannier Reserve

Windhoek and surroundings

With your journey slowly coming to an end, you drive back to Windhoek, and on to the beautiful Omaanda Lodge, which is situated in the middle of a large nature reserve with a view of the Namibian savannah. In the afternoon or the following morning, you can take in one last excursion.

Your Namibian safari ends today with your tour guide taking you to the airport in time to say goodbye and see you safely onto your flight home.
