Ruth A - Botswana with Vic Falls

Day notes

Upon arrival in Maun, you will be greeted and assisted to your light aircraft transfer into the Okavango Delta. From there you will be met and transferred to camp via vehicle and boat.

The next few days are spent exploring the Okavango Delta on boat trips, mokoro excursions [local canoe with expert poler] and guided walks. You are likely to see a plethora of birdlife as well as big game like elephants, buffalo, hippo and aquatic antelope. Rhino are extremely rare in Botswana but the best place to see them is on Chiefs Island.

From the Okavango Delta, fly north east to the Savuti region of Chobe National Park - made famous by the Savuti channel and marsh - which is a melting pot for all large mammals and predators - lion, leopard, cheetah and plenty of elephants, along with savannah antelope and zebra are all common here.

From Savuti, fly north to the town of Kasane, just outside Chobe National Park where you will be met and transferred to the lodge.

Chobe is an exceptional place, you will see a lot of elephants, hippo and herds of buffalo, impala and zebra - all drawn to the river and floodplains. Explore this area on boat trips and game drives each morning and afternoon. The lodge is a bit more hotel like, with a Moroccan feel but it functions well and is practical.

Please note that Kasane town is a busy place with numerous hotels bursting with game drive vehicles and large river cruise boats. Chobe Game Lodge is the only lodge/hotel inside the park, so you are somewhat removed from the busyness, but you will not experience the sense of peace that you found in the Okavango. So it is a mix of incredible wildlife but in a 'not-so-wild' environment.

Day notes

Today is a fresh start from the lodge, so you need to have an early breakfast and check-out by 07:00 when your guide will be there to collect you.

From the lodge you are likely to go into Kasane to pick up other guests before heading for the ZImbabwe border, where you will be handed over to another guide and vehicle on the Zimbabwe side who you will spend the bulk of your time with.

Zimbabwe visas and fees need to be arranged or purchased on entry at the order, Vic Falls park fees also need to be acquired upon entry - both are $30 per person for n0n African travelers.

Lunch is also not included but your guide will take you to a suitable place of your choice. The afternoon is free in the town of Vic falls before heading back to Botswana to spend the evening relaxing at your lodge.

Today your safari ends with a transfer to Kasane airport in time to check-in for your flight to Johannesburg.

The timing of your transfer is coordinated with the lodge, they have your flight time, but please double check logistics with reception and lodge management.
