After clearing the immigration formalities for Mozambique you will be met in the arrivals area at the airport and then have a road transfer through to your hotel in Maputo and giving you the afternoon to rest and acclimatise before the safari starts.
This morning after breakfast, you will have a glimpse of Maputo city life with a short tour before your transfer to Anvil Bay. The guide will pick you up at the hotel at 9am and return you there at 11am.
The road transfer through to Anvil Bay is about a 3hour drive so you should get to camp in the early afternoon.
While you are here you will be able to enjoy all of the different environments which would include walks along the beach and through the dune forests - cruise out at sea in search of Humpback Whales that migrate through this area in October, it is a great time of year for them - Snorkelling - Game Drives through the park - Biking on the beach - Great birding and a special activity will being able to watch the Leatherback and Loggerhead Turtles that come to nest along these beaches at this time of year.
There is lots to do and see here to keep you busy and will be an amazing way to start your Mozambican Safari in this barefoot luxury camp.

Glimpse of Maputo City Tour
You return to Maputo by road which will be timed to catch the flight from Maputo through to Beira - here you will then get a charter flight through to Gorongosa National Park which is where I will be meeting you on arrival. Your Gorongosa safari starts right from the airstrip with a drive into camp, the plan being to have you there and settled in camp before lunch. While you are here you will be able to do a combination of game drives and bush walks and weather permitting to include a day in the forests of Mount Gorongosa itself. Being able to go out onto Lake Urema will be dependent on lake levels but you will for sure game view in the area.
Today we will get back to the main park HQ at Chitengo in readiness for the flight that goes back to Beira and we will get this all arranged to suit your departure flights from here.
