Day 1: White River

Arrival at the airport Joannesburg O R Tambo, where guests are met by one of our staff members, who hands over the original travel documents, maps and assist with the pickup of the rental vehicle. From here, it is a 3 1/3 hour drive to Olivers Lodge.

Day 2: Central Kruger

After breakfast at the lodge, departure for a tour along the scenic Panorama Route. The Panorama Route along the Mpumalanga escarpment is both pleasurable and picturesque to drive.

In the afternoon enter Kruger Park near Phalaborwa and drive to Satara Camp in the Park. En route to the Camp there is ample opportunity to observe Wildlife.

Day 3: Missing Point

The morning is at leisure to drive through Kruger towards the Giriyondo Border Post to Mozambique. We recommend to cross over the border around 14h00 in order to arrive at Machampane Camp at 15h30. The afternoon is at leisure at the Camp.

Day 4: Missing Point

Guided wilderness walks are the primary activity offered at this intimate tented camp that overlooks the Machampane River.

Nestled on the side of a secluded river where bird and wildlife abound, guests set out on foot on early morning and late afternoon game walks embracing the waterholes in this pristine wilderness area.

Replete from a three course ‘bush cuisine’ dinner with its Mozambiquan flavours, the boma and its friendly fire beckon to experience the tranquility of the night sky and the sounds of the African bush.

Day 5: Chidenguele

Today it is an early departure from Machampne to the coast. En route we recommend visiting the Massingir Dam, with a 5km wide wall, stretches 20kms into the Elefantes Gorge. In the town of Macia, fresh fruit and cashew nuts can be bought at the side of the road. It takes approx. 6 hours to reach Naara Eco Lodge.

Day 6: Chidenguele

The entire day can be enjoyed with a kayak tour along the lake, a visit to the secluded beach or a walk into the village with local guides. Guests can get a first-hand glimpse of the life in rural Mozambique.

Day 7: Tofo

The journey continues to Tofo. En route, we recommend visiting Inhambane with its 200 year old cathedral and bustling market. The drive takes approx. 4 hours.

Day 8: Tofo

Guests staying at Tofo Beach can enjoy a range of activities. The warm ocean water makes it ideal for divers to visit the coral reefs. Snorkelling, scuba diving and spear fishing are all popular sports in Mozambique.

The world famous Manta Reef is situated close to Tofo. This stretch of coastline is home to a vast number of game and tropical fish species as well as a variety of corals and rare marine creatures such as dugongs, whale sharks and turtles.

Fishing is another activity Mozambique is well known for. The beautiful blue ocean water is home to the king mackerel (baracouta), Dorado, wahoo and several other species of kingfish, bonito and yellow-fin tuna. Sailfish season peaks from June to August and boats can be launched or chartered from Tofo beach.

Tofo beach is the ideal spot for beginners to learn how to surf. Several ideal surf spots are located close to Tofo. Long-boarders will also enjoy the conditions at Tofo beach. After spending the morning relaxing on the pristine beach, why not go into town for some shopping? Search for a holiday souvenir along the roadside stalls or markets. Visitors on their Mozambique holiday can buy beautiful colourful cloths called capulanas, which is worn by women around their waste.

Alternatively stock up on grass mats, batik prints, wood carvings, baskets, traditional ceramics and sculptures. The markets are also a great place for fresh produce.

Day 9: Vilanculos

Transfer to Vilanculos. The journey will take approx 5-6 hours.

Situated on the stunning Indian ocean, Vilanculos is the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelagos, idyllic offshore islands that make up a string of jewels in the Indian Ocean.

Vilanculos is a piece of paradise with dazzling powder-white beaches, coconut palms, crystal blue waters, superb all-year round temperate climate and is the perfect hideaway for a holiday that offers a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Dining out is a pleasure as there are a handful of excelled restaurants offering the freshest sea food among other delights and specialities in Portuguese fair.

Day 10: Vilanculos

Today is at leire to enjoy one of the many activities on offer.

Adventure comes in so many forms – best marlin fishing in the world, snorkelling, boating, diving, kite surfing and just good old swimming.

Dhow sailboat trips and motorboat trips are offered by many to fulfil your adrenalin rush or provide the amazing opportunity of swimming with dolphins or sea turtles.

Day 11: Zavora

Return transfer past Inhambane to Dunes de Dovela Eco Lodge. The tour takes approx.6 hours. Paths through the dunes and the coastal forest, along the edge of Dongane lake and towards Dovela village offer you lots of opportunities to explore the area and meet people... Alternatively, you can relax on the terrace of your comfortable chalet and watch the Humpback Whales (June to October), walk down to the pristine beach and snorkel along the rocky reef.

Day 12: Bilene

The transfer to Bilene takes approx. 4 1/2 hours.

A variety of fun activities and water sports to do in Bilene, include: Windsurfing, Kite surfing, Parasailing, Wake Baoding, Jet Skiing, Kayaking, Slalom, Knee Boarding, Canoeing, Snorkeling, Volleyball and more. The lagoon is shallow and the waters are calm, making it safe for swimmers.

Fishing enthusiasts will be delighted to hear that Bilene gives anglers the option to not only go Deep Sea Fishing, but to also exploit their fishing skills within the Lagoon and on a number fresh water lakes North and South of Bilene, including unspoiled lakes such as Lake Sauce, Lake Gire, Lake Chissura and Lake Pab. A scenic 4×4 or Quad Bike drive is all that’s needed to get to these lakes.

In the evening, the locals prepare a seafood-barbecue for you.

Day 13: Southern Kruger

Today, transfer past Maputo to the border and cross over into South Africa.

The Mjejane River Lodge is situated close to the border of Komatipoort.

Safari Drives in the morning and afternoon on open vehicles are included.
