We will be met there and then we go by boat across the lagoon into camp and should be here by lunch time. Although everything will be new and exciting so it may take a little longer.
Here at N'Dola camp we will have a few options available to us but mostly we will be exploring the forest and savannah grasslands which attract the forest elephants and forest buffalo along with a host of smaller primates and animals like - Putty Nosed and Mustached Monkeys, Red Capped Mangabey, Red River Hogs, Yellow Backed Duiker and even Hippos
We will also be able to do boat cruises, forest walks, night drives and game drives.

Being here in the wetter months November to June means that the Forest Elephant and buffalo are much more visible out on the open Savannahs
Day notes
Today we will transfer first to the Gorilla Research Camp by boat where we will be given a briefing on what to expect and the dos and dont's of Gorilla trekking. When the trackers have found the gorillas we will then set off along one of the many forest trails to get to these incredible primates.
The Western Lowland Gorilla has a real strong hold here in the forests of Gabon but they still face the same pressures that all of nature faces on the planet today so understanding what they need and how they navigate their environment - socially and physically is important knowledge to have so we can try to secure their future.
You will be able to sit with this family that have been habituated for research purposes and watch how they interact with one another and operate in their environment seemingly oblivious to your presence. It is a wonderful experience that will give you life long memories.
We then continue on by boat through to our new camp deep in the forest overlooking a shallow lagoon, you may even see Manatees and Hippos here also Slender Snouted Crocodiles, Forest Elephants and Buffalo, more smaller primates like Red Capped Mangabey and also Sitatunga.
From camp we will be able to enjoy more forest walks, kayaking and boat cruises along the various waterways. This is beautiful and pristine forest.

Day notes
Our day starts with a nice relaxing breakfast and then you go down to the Marina to catch an open motor launch for the boat ride over the lagoon to Pongara. It takes about 2 hours.
At Pongara you have miles of beautiful beaches and gallery primary forest. A key highlight here during November to March is seeing the turtles come ashore to nest or see the hatchlings making their way out to see for the first time. Species here are Leatherback, Olive Ridleys and Green Turtles - actually the greatest concentration of Leatherback Turtles on the planet come here.. You will also be able to do game drives and walks into the forest and a very beautiful kayak trip along the lagoon as well.
