Welcome to Nairobi!
Hey everyone! We’re kicking off our adventure in Nairobi, where Marianne and I had an absolute blast.
After our arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, we’ll be met by our drivers and taken to the legendary Sarova Stanley hotel, just a short drive away. It’s a great start to the journey, and we’ll have time to relax and settle in before exploring Nairobi.
Do as much or as little as you want - I'm here for tips and ideas but you are free to spend your time as you wish.
Whether you’re into local markets, visiting the National Museum, or even catching a glimpse of wildlife at Nairobi National Park, you’ll love it. Or just chill by the rooftop pool and enjoy delicious meals at the hotel’s restaurants, nobody's judging!
Into the Wild!
We fell in love with Mara Ripoi, and we know you will too. This place is all about peaceful vibes and incredible wildlife.
The adventure kicks off with a thrilling small plane flight from Wilson Airport to the Mara! You’ll get breathtaking aerial views of Kenya’s landscapes before landing at Ol Seki Airstrip. From there, we’ll have a transfer to our camp, spotting animals on the way.
We’ll be staying at Porini Giraffe Camp—Marianne and I couldn’t believe how close we got to the animals! Our Maasai guides made the experience even better with their amazing stories and knowledge. Get ready for game drives that’ll leave you in awe, with no crowds, just us and the wilderness.
One More Night in Paradise!
For our last night in the bush, we’re headed to Ol Kinyei Conservancy, where the wildlife and scenery are just as stunning.
We’ll make a short, scenic transfer from Porini Giraffe Camp to the Porini Ol Kinyei Safari Cottages. It’s always an exciting drive through the wilderness, with plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities along the way.
We’ll be staying at Porini Ol Kinyei Safari Cottages—these cottages are really luxurious and perfectly positioned for amazing views.
It's a chance to ease back into the modern world with beautiful rooms, outdoor showers, gourmet dining and amazing service
Plus, there’s nothing like a sundowner here, watching the sunset over the plains.
Beach Time!
After the wild adventures, we’re heading to Che Shale Beach for some serious relaxation.
Our journey continues with a flight back to Wilson Airport and then a short hop to Malindi Airport. From there, it’s a scenic drive through rural villages to Che Shale Hotel. The anticipation builds as we get closer to those stunning beaches!
We only had 3 nights here, but you guys get 6—lucky you! Che Shale is a slice of paradise with pristine beaches, incredible seafood, and all the activities you could want, from snorkeling to kitesurfing. You can join an all-day Dhow trip, visit Malindi town, check out the crab farm and much more.
Or you might do what we did - Marianne and I spent our days lounging and just soaking up the beauty of this place. It’s the perfect end to our adventure.
Heading Home!
It’s been an unforgettable journey, but all good things must come to an end.
We’ll enjoy a final coastal drive back to Malindi Airport for our flight to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, perfectly timed for our international departure. It’s the last leg of our journey, but the memories will last forever!
We’ll head back home with countless stories to share.
