Day 1: Kimberley

Start of your Rovos Rail Journey to Cape Town

Please check in a minimum of one hour before departure. Should you wish to visit the museum or do a site tour at Rovos Rail Station, we suggest two hours prior to departure.
11h00 Depart Rovos Rail Capital Park Station, Pretoria. Travel across the goldfields of the Witwatersrand and the broad grassland plains of the Highveld. Guests may freshen up in their suites before joining fellow travelers in the lounge and observation cars.
13h00 Lunch is served in the dining cars.
16h30 Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars.  
19h30 Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Klerksdorp. Overnight on board.  Dress: Formal

12h30 Lunch is served in the dining cars. Enjoy a two hour off-the-train tour of Kimberley’s Diamond Mine Museum and Big Hole.

Day 3: Rovos Rail

07h00 Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10h00.  The train travels through the Karoo, a vast semi-desert region that was once an enormous inland sea.
13h00 Lunch is served in the dining cars. After lunch, there is a chance for guests to disembark the train at Whitehill Siding and walk the 5km into Matjiesfontein.  Disembark at Matjiesfontein for an opportunity to stroll through the historic village.
16h30 Tea in the lounge an observation cars.
19h30 Dinner is served as the train climbs ±750m down the escarpment towards Worcester.   Dress: Formal

Day 4: Cape Town

07h00 Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 09h30. Admire the stunning views of Table Mountain and the Cape Winelands.
10h00 Disembark at Cape Town Station, marking the end of your Rovos Rail journey.

You will be met at the station and transferred to your hotel.

You will be staying in at the Taj Hotel in a Mountain Facing Tower Room.

Day 5: Cape Town

This morning you will be collected for a full-day private guided Cape Point and Peninsula Tour.

The full day Peninsula Tour will take you around the entire Cape Peninsula to the Cape of Good Hope showing you the wonders along the scenic route.

Pristine beaches, spectacular sight of Cape Point,  land based penguin colony, Skywalk at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. - these are just some of the highlights along the way.

Day 6: Cape Town

This morning you will be collected for a half-day private guided Cape Town City & Table Mountain tour. 

To get a feel of the thriving centre of the Mother City, sheltered by Table Mountain, the Cape Town city tour is not to be missed. On this tour you will visit many of the Cape’s top attractions, including the Castle of Good Hope, the colourful cottages of the Bo-Kaap, the bustling Green Market Square, the South African Museum, the beautiful Company’s Gardens and plenty more. With an experienced and knowledgeable guide, and from the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle, you will be able to learn more about Cape Town and its surrounds.

Day 7: Cape Town

This morning you will be collected for a full-day private guided Cape Winelands Tour.

The Cape Winelands Tour is a great introduction to the South African Winelands. Stellenbosch and Paarl make up the two largest wine growing districts in South Africa and are pivotal to any Cape Winelands Tour. Franschhoek brings with it the feel of Europe with its beautiful mountain views and small producers. Not only does a Winelands tour take in the crisp white and classic French-style red wines, fantastic cheeses and olives that the area is famous for, but it also gives you a chance to savour a stunning wealth of natural beauty. Explore vast estates as we take you along the Cape Winelands’ principal route through Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Day 8: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Private transfer to the Cape Town International Airport t in time for your flight to Victoria Falls via Johannesburg. Upon arrival you will be met for your private transfer to the Victoria Falls Safari Club where you will be staying for the next two nights. Your stay will be in a Club Room.  Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is located on a plateau overlooking a waterhole which attracts a variety of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, kudu, waterbuck, impala as well as a large number of bird species. Game may be seen at the waterhole from the lodge’s viewing deck, pool deck or over drinks or a meal at the Buffalo Bar and MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant.

 Your stay at the Victoria Falls Safari Club includes the following services:

Later in the afternoon you will be taken to enjoy a Sundowner Cruise on the Signature Deck of the Zambezi Explorer or the Zambezi Royal boat. Transfers are arranged with a shuttle bus and are not private.

After the boat cruise and your return to the hotel an a la carte dinner is served at the Victoria Falls Safari Club.

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

An ideal out-of-town base, this award-winning Zimbabwean safari lodge has spectacular views and is located just four kilometres from Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is positioned high on an escarpment overlooking the Zambezi National Park and boasts its own waterhole, much visited by elephants and herds of buffalo.

There is plenty to keep you busy: enjoy white-water rafting, game drives, adrenaline sports or canoe safaris plus guided bush walks. For gentler pursuits, you may savour delicious vintages on a wine-tasting activity or practice your swing on the 18-hole golf course nearby.

Day 9: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

After breakfast you will join a guided sight-seeing tour (shared) of the Victoria Falls. It is advised to take a rain coat to protect against sporadic water spray (can also be hired on location). You will be back in time for lunch at the Makuwa-Kuwa Restaurant to view the spectacular arrival of hundreds of Vultures swooping down for their daily feed on leftover meat scraps and bones from the on-site restaurants in front of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. Guests have the opportunity to spot white headed vultures, hooded vultures, lappet faced vultures and white backed vultures. The supplementary feeding program aids the survival of these remarkable, but endangered birds. 

Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. There are many more adventures and tours that can be booked locally at the hotel's travel desk.

In the evening a short shuttle transfer will take you to the Boma for a cultural dinner with entertainment.

Days 10 - 12: Chobe River Front

Private Road transfer to the Ngoma Safari Lodge. An oasis in a wildlife wonderland, this boutique lodge offers unrivalled panoramic views over the game-rich Chobe River and floodplain, and is on the doorstep of Chobe National Park, also known as Land of the Giants, as it is home to the largest herds of elephants on Earth.

Expect a vast and diverse array of wildlife as knowledgeable guides take you on safaris through the Chobe National Park, lazy afternoons by the pool and stunning dinners under African stars. Additional activities include river cruises, night game drives, game walks (on request), local community visits and mokoro trips.

Safari Activities at Ngoma Safari Lodge

Set in the Chobe Forest Reserve just outside the Chobe National Park, Ngoma Safari Lodge has an elevated view of the legendary Chobe River and game-rich Caprivi floodplains. The classic thatched lodge, swimming pool and various viewing decks are superbly placed amongst magnificent baobab trees to best showcase the magical scenery. Game drives in the Forest Reserve or Chobe National Park take place each morning and afternoon although a full day can be spent game viewing in Chobe and on the Chobe River with a picnic lunch in a wild and beautiful spot.

Game viewing in Chobe is exceptional during the dry winter months July - October. Moreover, being based in the Forest Reserve allows guests to enjoy guided walking safaris and night game drives, two activities not allowed in the national park. Ngoma Safari Lodge is a member of a community trust established to help the local community benefit from tourism and resource management. Visit the Mabele Village or the village's primary school for an opportunity to interact with the local community.
