Meno a Kwena | Boteti River - Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

Meno a Kwena is an understated rustic lodge perched on a clifftop overlooking the Boteti River and offering a diverse range of activities. The Lodge exudes old world, classic safari style. Each of the 10 tents has an enviable view of the Boteti River allowing guests to watch Southern Africa’s largest zebra and wildebeest migration concentrates at the river during the dry season. Meals are cooked over the camp fire and down time spent in the pool or loungers.

Guests can immerse themselves in the silence and solitude of the Makgadigadi salt pans with our sleep out (dry season only), watch the bustle of river-seeking herds from land or water, or oversee phenomenal wildlife sightings within the Park. The iconic local bushmen tribe bestow their knowledge of flora and fauna in a fascinating cultural exchange during walks from camp. With its easy access from Maun, this is a perfect camp for those on a self-drive itinerary, travelling with children or as part of a group.

Hyena Pan | Khwai Private Reserve

Hyena Pan is situated in a 200 000 hectare private conservancy, Khwai Private Reserve. It falls within the Okavango Delta World Heritage Site, and borders Moremi Game Reserve, the Khwai River and Chobe National Park.

Overlooking the Hyena Pan, is in a forest of Cathedral Mopane just 12km north of the Khwai River, the theatre of animals passing through will amaze and delight you, all visible from a choice of viewpoints in camp. With one of the few permanent water holes in this area thanks to solar powered boreholes, and also its location as an elephant route between Savuti in the Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta, we see movement of elephant through the area constantly.

Our underground hide offers a spectacular new vantage point. Situated around Elephant’s Pool, about 20 minutes from camp, you have the chance to watch elephants, zebra, giraffe, wild dog and other wildlife as they come to cool off and rehydrate. This is a once in a lifetime experience and a photographers dream.

The camp is rustic yet comfortable, its charming simplicity making it the perfect getaway into the wilderness.

Skybeds | Khwai Private Reserve

Looking for a truly unique way to spend time in the bush? Then look no further than our fabulous Skybeds, located deep within the Khwai Private Reserve. As the name suggests, this is no ordinary safari camp. Each “room” is actually a three-story raised platform, overlooking the wildlife-spotted plains of Khwai. Charmingly rustic yet perfectly stylish, you’ll find a bathroom with flushing loo on the first floor, a dressing area, and the ultimate cherry on the top floor, an enormous double bed, draped in white linens and a feather duvet and completely open to the stars.

With such spectacular skies overhead, you could be forgiven for forgetting about what’s happening down below. But keep one eye on the ground, for the Skybeds overlook a busy waterhole. In one night we’ve seen wild dog, lion, elephant and hyena – and that’s just the beginning. So, whilst we can’t guarantee you’ll get much sleep, we can guarantee one of the wildest and most wonderful safari experiences you’ll ever have.

Please note that Skybeds can only be booked in combination with a stay at Hyena Pan, Tuludi, Sable Alley and Little Sable in Khwai Private Reserve.

Sable Alley | Khwai Private Reserve

Khwai Private Reserve, one of Botswana’s best kept secrets, is home to Sable Alley. This light, bright camp showcases comfortable luxury amid the game rich floodplains of Khwai. The canvas sided rooms have spacious, beautifully designed interiors with a large veranda encouraging relaxation in the afternoon; the main area exudes comfort with large be-cushioned sofas and stylish accessories that reflect the natural surroundings. For those hot days, we have a refreshing pool overlooking the lagoon. The cuisine mirrors the accommodation - modern, stylish...and delicious.

Located right on the banks of the lily-covered lagoon, home to hippo and a favourite drinking spot for elephant and buffalo, the big game quite literally comes to you. As tempting as it is to stay in camp, venture out you should, for Khwai offers one of Africa’s greatest and most exclusive safari experiences. Remember to have your binos ready for lion, leopard, wild dogs and more as you drive through the diverse landscapes.

The camp is not only sophisticated and sustainable but we’re also partnered with local communities in Khwai, which make up the majority of our staff. Proceeds from staying at Sable Alley go straight back into the Khwai Village community projects, as well as various wildlife initiatives.
