- Lake Valencia: This one-day experience in the jungle begins with a two-hour boat ride downriver to the scintillating Valencia oxbow lake. Fishing in the lake is perfectly complemented by sightings of varied wildlife and birds, including ospreys, herons, huge flocks of flying macaws and the king vulture. For lunch savor the fish you caught in the lake, served alongside other local food. Walk 1-hour in the primary forest and Brazilian Nut fields on your way around the rainforest. Return to the lodge by boat.*Breeding season fishing ban: between December 20 and February 20 during the reproductive ban at Lake Valencia, travelers will not be allowed to fish during their visit.

- Ornithology: Bird watching experience in the rainforest. Departing from the lodge by dawn, travel by boat or walk through the forest accompanied by an Inkaterra Explorer Guide, on the lookout for your preferred bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch, and resume birding activities until sunset. (The interpretation level will vary according to preferences).

For the most unique and memorable rainforest experience the Inkaterra Canopy Tree House offers utter seclusion amidst the splendor of the Peruvian South Eastern Amazon. Built on a private platform and adjoining the famous Inkaterra Canopy Walkway at some 90-ft. (27-mt.) above the lush floor below, the Inkaterra Canopy Tree House provides service that is second to none and a jungle stay like no other.

We set off from our camp to journey across 81 km (265,748 ft) of everchanging landscapes: striking geological formations, the vast Puya

de Raimondi forest, and the highest point at 4,600 m.a.s.l. (15,091 ft) We then descend to Vilavila to visit its lagoon and waterfall before continuing to Palca, where local artisans preserve the traditional art of alpaca textile weaving. The route follows the river, leading us to Lampa, home to the majestic Temple of Santiago. As our journey nears its end, we visit Pucará, where artisans breathe life into the legendary Toritos.

The Travesía between Cusco and Tinajani reveals a quieter side of southern Peru, with possible stops at lesser-known landmarks. In Andahuaylillas, a baroque church dazzles with Andean-Catholic artistry, while the Inca site of Raqchi preserves the grandeur of the Temple of Wiracocha. At Abra La Raya, the highest point on the route, the snow-capped Chimboya rises above the birthplace of the Vilcanota River.

Explore the Uros floating islands and Taquile Island on this full-day journey, one of our most requested excursions. Neither land, sky, nor water, but existing at the intersection of all three, the Uros Titino islands are formed from the roots of totora reeds — a singular building material that allows these floating communities to endure upon Lake Titicaca. Meeting the Uro-Aymara people offers a rare opportunity to learn from skilled raftsmen and master weavers, whose ancestral knowledge sustains both their islands and their remarkable heritage.

Among the most emblematic is the Feast of the Virgin of la Candelaria, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Each February, this vibrant festival brings the streets to life with over 360 pre- and post-colonial dances, performed by nearly 40,000 participants. Colourful costumes, crafted exclusively for the occasion, and energetic performances make it the region’s most representative celebration.

After an early breakfast, set out along the ancient Colla Route, part of the original Incan road network that winds through rugged mountain landscapes near the lodge. Along the way, take in sweeping views of Bolivia’s Cordillera Real, its snow-capped peaks rising above the horizon.

Continue the ascent to the Hilarata Summit, where extraordinary vistas open over Lake Titicaca and the vast Altiplano, punctuated by the communities of Santa Rosa and Thunuhuaya. The journey concludes at the tranquil Lagoon Chatuma, still revered by locals as a site for rituals and ceremonies.

Discover the epicentre of evangelisation during the Spanish conquest with a visit to the historic churches of Juli and Pomata. Set between Cuzco and the former mining hub of Potosí, these religious centres stand at the crossroads of cultural legacies, the silver boom, and the meeting of faiths.

In Juli, known as the “Little Rome of America,” explore four remarkable churches dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Continue to Pomata, celebrated for its baroque temple built entirely from red pumice stone — a masterpiece that inspired other colonial churches across South America. Within, gold leaf altars and distinguished paintings from the viceregal period highlight the artistic richness of the era.
