Musekese Camp | Central Kafue
Perched on the edge of a spectacular lagoon hidden away from the outside world Musekese has made a name for itself with expert guiding, exceptional food and phenomenal wildlife. Explore this game-rich area by vehicle, foot, or boat along the emerald green Kafue River…
Musekese Camp has only five chalets taking a maximum of ten people, and with a minimum of two guides on hand at any time you are entirely assured of activities taken at your pace and interest.
Rooms at Musekese Camp are spacious and comfortable with all the necessities, including flushing loos and warm bucket showers under a mix of canvas and thatch. All our power requirements are drawn from a well configured solar set up, and whilst there are no charging facilities in the rooms, the main area has plenty of surplus power 24/7 to keep all your devices fully charged and drinks ice cold.
Musekese is the local Kaonde name for the most ubiquitous tree species in the area, the Monkey-Bread Tree or Bauhinia thonningii. The camp is situated on a small ridge overlooking a long and open seasonally inundated floodplain (dambo), beyond which is the main Kafue River. Musekese is strategically positioned to allow access to camp via different means, including by road, boat or by plane, with an all weather airstrip a short but scenic boat journey away. The camp itself comprises of just four very well appointed ‘Machaba’ safari tents, complete with comfortable beds, soft linens and locally sourced wooden furnishings. Small, extra touches ensure Musekese is quite unlike any other camp in the Kafue.
