Our two family cottages, Kahawa and Meru, exude old-world elegance without compromising modern comforts. Not forgetting the beginnings of this century-old estate, Legendary Lodge is surrounded by a working coffee plantation. Guests can spend a morning following a coffee bean from tree to cup: from the agriculture, to picking and roasting, to the making of that delicious blend many of us enjoy at home, as Tanzanian coffee is exported far and wide.
Coffee tours take place on Legendary Lodge's neighbouring Burka Coffee farm.
Legendary Lodge is on the doorstep of several wonderful protected wilderness areas that make for unforgettable day trips. Day trips to nearby national parks, including Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, can be arranged on-site with the lodge manager.

Dining at Legendary Lodge
As with any farmhouse, the kitchen tends to be the heart of the home, and Legendary Lodge is no exception. Our team of incredibly talented Tanzanian chefs will leave you wishing you had more space for another course. Using only the freshest ingredients and prepared with a large scoop of love, every meal will be an experience.
Breakfast is typically available from 6.30am but we are happy to arrange for it at your desired time. A selection of fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts and pastries — baked that morning by our pastry chef — will be laid out. Your waiter will take a hot breakfast order.
Lunch and dinner offer three courses, with a choice for all courses.
Ensuring that your mealtime is an experience, enjoy the warmth of the sun when we move your lunch table into the gardens, or relax on the verandah at night, with gas heaters warming the air, and a throw around your shoulders.
We welcome you at the fire-place in the evenings for a pre-dinner drink: a chance for us to have a chat, but should you feel so at home that you would prefer to enjoy meals in your cottage, please just let the lodge manager know so that this can be arranged for you.

Lemala Nanyukie Lodge | Eastern Serengeti
Lemala Nanyukie is conveniently located just outside of the Seronera circuit, allowing for some private game viewing of its world famous concentration of cats and resident wildlife, due to its abundance of water in the many rivers. Between April and June, and again between November and January, this area is crossed by the annual wildebeest migration, which always provides a thrilling wildlife spectacle. Lemala Nanyukie has a large, open floor lounge and bar area that has a variety of inside and outside seating. The inside lounge areas offer lots of discreet hideaways to retreat too. Whether your preference is a private space by the fireplace, or big comfortable sofas sharing experiences with fellow travellers – there’s space for all. Game drives are available as either shared experiences or private, utilizing our fleet of both open-air and enclosed 4x4 Land Cruisers, which are reliable, comfortable, and well-maintained. Each Land Cruiser is equipped with charging ports, onboard refrigeration, camera stabilization bean bags, vehicle recovery equipment, VHF radio systems, comprehensive guidebooks, first aid supplies, safety belts, and one pair of binoculars, which the guide uses for spotting, but which can be borrowed if the traveler did not bring their own. The Highlands
Honeymoon Tent
The Honeymoon dome emphasises privacy, rest, and relaxation, with a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with a double headed shower, as well as wood burning fire place for warmth in the colder months. In addition, there is a seating area, large elevated deck, and an outdoor hot tub which looks out over the beautiful landscape of Ngorongoro.
The Highlands has six large, luxury guest tents with fantastic views stretching to the Gola Mountains. The domes have the option of being twins or doubles with several having a mezzanine available for a third bed. The tents all feature king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms with separate flush toilet and double-headed plumbed shower. Each tent also has a wood burning fireplace and plenty of cosy blankets and rugs for warmth in the colder months.
The Highlands features one family tent specifically designed to accommodate two adults and two children. The main dome is a standard double with a covered walkway leading to a smaller dome with twin beds and en-suite shower room for the children.

Enjoy a game drive in one of the most game-rich areas in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater. Explore the vast 300km2 floor with an experienced guide and stop for lunch in a shady spot under the trees, maximising your time in this unforgettable landscape. Our seven-seater closed vehicles are fitted with power points so you’re able to charge your devices, as well as a fridge to keep your drinks deliciously frosty.
The Olmoti climb follows an ancient Maasai cattle trail through mountain forest, grasslands and rocky outcrops. Make the most of outstanding birding opportunities and the chance to see a vast array of butterfly species. At the top, you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the crater below.
Descend into the Empakaai crater accompanied by an NCA ranger and walk to the sparkling soda lake on the crater floor, famous for the pink flamingo that congregate on its shores. Because of the camp’s proximity to Empakaai, it is the only property that gives you the opportunity to make this a half-day excursion.
Guests will have the opportunity to join a Maasai staff member on a visit to a local community. Many of our staff members are drawn from the surrounding communities and are always eager to share their experiences, providing a richer understanding of the culture that defines this corner of East Africa. Guests will be invited to a Maasai boma to gain an insight into the traditional cattle-herding practices and school visits will also be available depending on the time of year.

Game drives are available as either shared experiences or private, utilizing our fleet of both open-air and enclosed 4x4 Land Cruisers, which are reliable, comfortable, and well-maintained. Each Land Cruiser is equipped with charging ports, onboard refrigeration, camera stabilization bean bags, vehicle recovery equipment, VHF radio systems, comprehensive guidebooks, first aid supplies, safety belts, and one pair of binoculars, which the guide uses for spotting, but which can be borrowed if the traveler did not bring their own.
