Entamanu Ngorongoro | Ngorongoro Crater

Perched high on the wild side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, Nomad’s Entamanu Ngorongoro is a thoughtfully designed refuge in this elemental place, from which to explore the unique highland environment. Surrounded by the soaring peaks of dormant volcanic hills and the ebb and flow of Maasai pastoralist life, this is a place to explore beyond the hustle and bustle of the tourist trail. Not only to visit the Crater, but to understand it as part of a wider environment.

Seven large en-suite cottage-style rooms and three two bedroom cottages made cosy with heaters, warm textiles and sheepskin look across the iconic Crater view, with a backdrop of ancient acacia trees. The style here is as unique as the location - everything carefully handcrafted locally to the highest standard.

There’s nothing tame about this location – the high altitude sun has some real heat and the wind can be biting and sometimes noisy. Nomad Tanzania have taken up the challenge to create a camp that makes the most of the extraordinary view while providing warmth and shelter from the elements, while being entirely removable. Every design detail has been considered in light of this, while still providing comfort in this elemental place.

Dunia | Central Serengeti

Tucked between the prime wildlife areas of central and southern Serengeti, Dunia Camp is a secluded bush camp which combines elements of style and luxury with an incredible wildlife experience. Dunia Camp is in the perfect location to enjoy the best of the Serengeti’s game viewing on a year round basis. The Great Migration passes through this area that is especially known for its abundance of lion, leopard and cheetah and the rare chance it offers to see the illustrious black rhino. The quiet setting in the Moru Kopjes is a retreat of tranquillity in the most scenic part of the Serengeti. Perched in between the known territories of Ndutu and Seronera, the Moru Kopjes are arguably the most breathtaking scenery the Serengeti has to offer. Surreal rock formations protrude out from the plains and provide cats with a perfect viewpoint to overlook their territories. Dunia’s close proximity to Seronera allows for a memorable balloon safari experience.

Game drives from Dunia Camp offer an excellent variety of habitats and combine Migration viewing with the search for big cats as well as the rhino – Moru Kopjes currently being the only area in the Serengeti where the illustrious animal can be viewed.

The camp comprises just 8 spacious en-suite tents each with flush toilets, large bathrooms and a private veranda overlooking the Kopjes. This intimate setting gives it a feeling of a small community of avid explorers. Each tent is stylishly decorated in African bush camp style with extensive use of color and local materials.

Canvas chairs and coir mats adorn the private verandas, while hurricane lamps provide a flicker of vintage charm as the sun dips behind the region’s iconic granite outcrops. Weathered wood, sturdy canvas and fine linen: Dunia is a place of comfortable simplicity and effortless charm, where unnecessary distractions are pared away.

Facilities: 24-hour Security, Library, En-Suite, Fan, Hair Dryer, Outside Shower, Pure Cotton Linen, Shower, Tea / Coffee, Verandah
Game Viewing at Dunia

The Southern Serengeti is most famous for the period between December and March as the migration heads into this fertile grassland to give birth to the next generation of wildebeest and zebra. During these months, vast herds of migratory animals descend upon the Southern Plains – followed intently by a range of predators. When the migration departs, attention shifts back to the Seronera Valley which is well known for its high numbers of resident game and quality game viewing.

The Seronera River provides a constant water source and creates a forest region which follows the course of the river creating good cover for the elusive leopard. Strategically placed with easy access to both these regions, Dunia Camp is capable of offering superb game viewing throughout the year.

Breezes Beach Club and Spa | Dongwe

Breezes Beach Club is a captivating beach resort on the Michamvi peninsula on south-east coast of Zanzibar. It’s known for its long pristine peaceful white beach and personal, friendly service. Adjacent to Breezes Beach Club lies its sister hotels: the all-suite Palms, a more exclusive option with just six suites and its own spa, as well as the luxurious Baraza Resort & Spa.

Most of the 70 air-conditioned en suite rooms are grouped in plantation-style villas set in landscaped tropical gardens, with four deluxe rooms on the ground floor and two suites on the upper floor with a large balcony. All are similar in style, decorated in neutral tones with teak wood furniture, Zanzibar carvings and cotton throws. The 10 standard rooms are set back from the beach and there are five twin-bedded bungalows in the garden.

All rooms have a terrace and are fully air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, refrigerator, personal electronic safe box, hairdryer in bathroom and a full third bed functioning as a sofa. The suites also have a walk in dressing room and larger bathroom with large terrace, private sunbathing area, and a covered outdoor lounge area.

The thatched restaurant and lounge areas surround a large swimming pool and pool bar. Breezes Beach Club is known for its cuisine which combines Zanzibar dishes with more well-known international options. Given its ocean location, there’s a natural emphasis on freshly caught fish. There’s a choice of restaurants ranging from the main Salama Restaurant to the Sultan’s Table to the casual Breakers for lunch.

Other facilities include a superb spa, tennis and volleyball, a gym and a well-stocked watersports and activity centre with canoes, bikes, and kite surfing available. (Scuba-diving, snorkelling, deep-sea fishing are at extra cost). And yet this family-run resort retains its elegant atmosphere thanks in part to its Zanzibar furnishings and the high thatched roofs. The beach was once voted ‘best beach in the world’.

The dive centre is a National Geographic dive centre – the only one in East Africa. There’s a 65km reef just a mile offshore so diving is an excellent option at Breezes. Onshore you also may enjoy the Fragipani Spa which offers a great range of treatments as well as a yoga room, relaxation rooms and even the Sultan’s Bath House. Breezes Beach Club is a great option for families with lots of activities and diversions on offer. Children are able to share with their parents (in Standard rooms) or take their own room at a reduced rate.
