Chonta Mirador de Cóndores enjoys a prime location above the canyon of Apurimac. This lookout point is an excellent place for those to admire the Andean Condor, a large native bird, as it soars around in its natural habitat. Historically, the Incas considered the Andean Condor a sacred bird that brings a spiritual message. Visitors to the area will also spot eagles, hawks and hummingbirds, among others.

The Santa Teresa Hidroelectrica is a hydro-electrical plant located in the Santa Teresa and Machu Picchu districts. From Santa Teresa to the plant, it is a pretty long uphill dirt road with cars passing by, so not a really pleasant walk and you should consider rather paying the taxi fare. There is also a train station at Santa Teresa Hidroelectrica from where you can take a minibus to Santa Teresa.
