Coral Lodge | Ilha de Mozambique

This little paradise lies on the coast of Northern Mozambique about 2,5 hours east of Nampula, which is serviced six times a week by Airlink flights from Johannesburg.

It’s ten luxurious villas are set on a breathtaking peninsula with aqua blue waters that wrap around the coastline, a pristine sandy beach and a winding lagoon.

Coral lodge offers two options of villas, five lagoon facing and five beach facing villas. One of each type has been converted into a family villa and features an additional bedroom. All of the elegant and spacious 100 sqm large villas are identical in size and interior decoration, only the location differs. The beach villas are ideal to watch the sunrise over the Indian Ocean from the private deck; the lagoon facing villas to watch the sunset. The villas have a king-size bed with a mosquito net, an elegant living area, en-suite bathroom with a separate bath and shower, an outdoor shower, a ceiling fan, a fully stocked private mini bar and coffee and tea making facilities. Free WiFi is available in the public areas.

Guests will indulge in the freshest local ingredients in the fine Mozambican cuisine served in the restaurant, as a private romantic dinner on the beach or at the villa or as a picnic.

Activities which are offered at Coral Lodge include snorkelling in the lagoon, canoeing and Stand-up Paddle Boarding, which are ideal ways to explore the mangroves, a walk and canoe trip to the local community of Cabaceira Pequena, learning to cook some of the Chef’s favourite Mozambican dishes with the Chef or simply soaking up the sun on the beach or at the pool.

A particularly unique and interesting activity is a guided visit to “Ilha de Moçambique” by dhow, to embrace Mozambique’s colourful history and delve into the culture of the little island, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Coral Lodge, in partnership with Ecolibri, has pioneered the way for responsible and sustainable tourism in Mozambique. Their green footprint includes the introduction of Solar Power Technology to power the pathways as well as the main areas of the lodge and the new Ecolibri Micro Wind Turbine hybrid system, which combines wind turbine technology with cleverly designed solar panels.

Combined with the warm and genuine Coral Lodge Family hospitality, visitors can’t help but fall in love with the Coral Lodge experience. It is as intimate and exclusive, as it is authentic.(ITT)
