Mashatu Tent Camp | Mashatu Game Reserve

4 May 2019 - 5 May 2019

Mashatu Game Reserve comprises 29,000 hectares (72000 acres) of privately owned land in the conserved wilderness area known as the Northern Tuli Game Reserve. The reserve lies in the eastern extremity of Botswana where the great Limpopo and Shashe Rivers converge. This exceptionally diverse landscape includes wide open plains, grassland, riverine forests, rocky hills, marshland and majestic sandstone ridges.

Located in the Mashatu Game Reserve, 30 minutes from Mashatu Lodge, the Mashatu Tent Camp offers guests the ultimate, intimate bush experience. Eight spacious, comfortable, and completely private tents rest below enormous trees, each on their own platform with private outdoor en-suite facilities. Imagine showering under the stars! Meals are served either in the open-air thatched gazebo, or in the boma (enclosure) overlooking the floodlit, well-populated waterhole where bush enthusiasts can witness animals going about their day. The camp’s plunge pool invites guests to cool off and escape the relentless heat typical of the summer months.

Kgotla Camp | Mashatu Game Reserve

5 May 2019 - 6 May 2019

The Kgotla is an old tribal court from a nearby community that was relocated to the banks of the Motloutse River on the western periphery of Mashatu. The boma is an open-air traditional African enclosure made up of leadwood logs.

Pre-dinner drinks and dinner are are enjoyed around a large log fire that blazes at the centre and guests sleep on beds open to the African skies, within the perimeter of the boma.  There are shared showers and flush loos.

While overlooking the ‘Land of Giants’ from the towering vantage points on Mmamagwa Hill, one is embraced by the stillness of time immemorial. Down in the valley, as far as the eye can see, lie the sweltering Mopane plains of the Mashatu Game Reserve – a sweeping wilderness of immense and unimaginable beauty; one that unfolds like an intricate tapestry into savannah, riverine forests, marshland, endless plains and sandstone outcrops. The ‘Land of Giants’ is a totally unpeopled wilderness in eastern Botswana. Here, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers, you will unearth a diverse paradise thrumming with birds, plants, wild animals and insects.

Mashatu Lodge | Mashatu Game Reserve

6 May 2019 - 7 May 2019

Mashatu Game Reserve is located in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana bordering South Africa. It is the embodiment of all that defines Africa. Space so open and vast, taking it all in is almost too much; an array of wildlife from the gigantic to the miniscule; majestic skies open to the universe and unfettered by smog; a quiet so loud it thrums with life; and unexpected adventure beyond the game drive with horse-back safaris, cycling safaris and walks in the wild. Mashatu Main Camp is an oasis among the undulating and seemingly endless plains of the wild. Burning torches at the camp’s entrance lure safari-goers home, where they experience the embodiment of sublime hospitality. For the client who is accustomed to luxury, this camp will meet every expectation. 14 luxury suites lie along the camp’s perimeter, and are designed to allow absolute privacy and a communion with the bush and its inhabitants. Watch elephants splashing at the waterhole, listen to the lyrical melody of the woodlands kingfisher on a branch overhead, smell the grassy scent of the bushveld, and touch the bark of an ancient tree and inhale a breath of air so pure, it’s intoxicating. Safari vehicles meander into the bush twice a day, bringing visitors into close contact with an Africa that is largely known only in wildlife documentaries and glossy books. But this Africa is real, and distinctly tangible through all six senses. Mashatu Game Reserve is a place to connect you to the essence of what life is meant to be. Uncomplicated, bold, and beautiful.
