The terrain on which the hacienda is located was bought by landowner Don Matheo de la Escalera y Velasco in 1695. The hacienda has played host to a number of important historical, social, political and scientific events on a national and international level. Guests are welcomed to the Hacienda La Cienega with a cocktail made of fruits typical of the area. A stay at this establishment comes with a variety of breakfast from American breakfasts to country breakfasts. Guests can enjoy horse riding around the hacienda and at the same time enjoy the most beautiful landscapes of the area. A tour to view one of the impressive attractions, namely, the Cotopaxi volcano, can be arranged at the hacienda. Quilotoa tours to explore the wonders of the region can also be organized.
