Karisia Nantodo Camp | Laikipia
Karisia Nantodo Camp is at the junction of a wide sand-river and the Ewaso Nyiro river, where it is shaded by large, umbrella-shaped Acacia trees.
Behind the camp rises the immense granite pinnacle, Nantodo.
Rising abruptly out of the arid plains, Nantodo is a landmark for miles and miles.
The sand river here is often dry, yet if you dig down you get crystal clear water that has been filtered through the sand and is perfect for a shower at the end of the day.
The Ewaso River is very wide at this point and a well known crossing point for the local Samburu people.
You often sit in camp and enjoy watching the livestock and traditional Samburu coming to the river; watering, crossing and spending a few hours washing.
