Lehele Lodge comprises of 7 Villas which are a 2-12 minute self-drive option to and from the Lodge for meals and game drives. These deluxe three and four bedroom villas feature an open plan lounge with kitchen and dining room all opening onto a wraparound deck with magnificent valley and mountain views.
CONSERVATION EXPERIENCE Gondwana Game Reserve, an 11 000 hectare private Big 5 reserve on the Garden Route has launched a 5 night conservation experience for individuals, families or groups who want to get more involved in Africa on their safari. Participants will be involved in wildlife and veld management, learn important bush skills and interpretation. The research and findings from the program are fed back to Gondwana’s conservation department to assist in decision making enhancing the reserve management plan. The itinerary will include plenty of game drives, bush walks, and down time in an utterly inspiring landscape. This is your chance to get involved with the important conservation work of a Big Five game reserve and not only enjoy but contribute. A Typical day 06:00 – Wake up 06:30 – Breakfast (cold buffet & Ranger’s fry up) 07:00 – Depart on Morning activity (Example – locating cheetah/monitoring/leopard cameras) 10:30 – Move to conservation project site (Example – Erosion site/Wattle clearing site/water system assessment ) 13:00 – Packed lunch in bush or @ camp 14:00 – Continue with conservation/field project 16:00 – Depart on evening game monitoring drive 18:30 – Return to camp and freshen up 19:00 – Dinner (homemade, hearty meals as well as a potjie & braai night) 20:30 – Evening talk and prep for next day’s activity Booking Information The Conservation program starts every Thursday at 1pm with departure mid morning on Tuesday and runs all year around. The program caters for both families and adults and we try to group families together in their own program weeks where possible. Due to the nature of the program children must be 6 or older. Family Programs These programs create an opportunity for parents and children to have fun in nature while learning about conservation and participating in important projects. We ensure the activities are not too long nor strenuous for the little ones to keep them motivated and happy. Family projects are developed for all age groups to be able to actively participate. The regular more adult program brings in elements of wildlife monitoring and research which will be substituted with activities like fishing, treasure hunts and nature crafts. Itinerary for 2017 starts on a Thursday afternoon Accommodation: Tented Bush Camp Your base during the program will be in our eco-friendly tented camp set in a protected valley blanketed in Fynbos in the heart of the game reserve. The camp facilities include 5 large, comfortable twin or double share tents set on raised decks each with an ensuite bathroom and covered deck area (2 additional tents are for staff). All meals are provided in the recreational communal tent area which includes kitchen, lounge, dining, and covered deck areas, as well as an outdoor dining boma. Relaxation area with hammocks and pool is also available. Family Weeks (5 night and 3 night Programs): Designated weeks are ear marked for family programs where the experience is modified and more geared to children and offers a truly rewarding family holiday. Offered for those keen on an exciting three night walking trail traversing through the private, Big five, 11 000 hectare, malaria free game reserve. The trail takes you to three remote tented camp locations with two full days of hiking.
Your expert trail guides will intimately expose you to the Reserve’s unique biodiversity and eco systems while experiencing the Big Five and multiple species of antelope on foot. Luxuriously appointed tents with claw foot tubs and outdoor showers await you when you arrive as well as beautifully prepared food and your warm and friendly Pioneer Trails Team!

Gondwana’s Pioneer Trail is the ultimate slack packing adventure where your belongings are moved daily between the three camps, allowing you to experience the dramatic Fynbos landscape with only a light day pack.
Each exclusive camp is comprised of four bedroom tents with en-suite bathrooms including a claw foot tub and outdoor shower, sleeping a maximum of eight guests. Homemade African inspired meals are catered for you with cold beverages on tap. You literally need to “just bring your boots” and the Pioneer
Trail team will do the rest. It has been said there is no better way to experience nature and wildlife than on foot.
Camp facilities also included lounge and dining tents and an outdoor boma and campfire area. The dedicated staff team includes a camp assistant, housekeeper and two qualified and armed Trail Guides.
Trail Detail
The trail traverses the 11 000 hectare, free roaming big five game reserve under the escort of two armed and qualified trail guides. Approximately 10 kilometres of walking per day. (approximately 6hrs of walking a day). Exclusive remote footpaths and game trails requiring medium exertion. Daily packed lunches and tea and water breaks throughout the trail. Luggage and valuables can be stowed at Lehele Lodge for guests that have more belongings with them then they need for the trail.
