Nature Lodge lies perched on a hill, just 2km south of the charming village of Joffreville. It is well-positioned to enjoy Amber Mountain National Park nearby.
Its setting on a small hill offers panoramic views of the Diego Suarez bay and the Mozambique Channel. There are 12 spacious thatched chalets built from local wood and bamboo. Once inside there’s a feel of a Swiss mountain cabin., but with a mosquito net and spacious en suite shower room. In front there is a private terrace so that you can enjoy the bay views and evening sunsets.
From the chalets you can stroll up to the main lodge along pathways lit by twinkling lanterns winding through the gardens of bougainvillea and palms.
The main lodge, set in a palm-filled garden has a light and airy restaurant which serves delicious food, a mixture of traditional Malagasy and French. There’s a well-designed bar with some exotic cocktails on the menu. The cosy sitting area leads out to a terrace, the ideal setting for a sundowner whilst you enjoy the sunset and lovely wide-angle views over rolling hills down to the bay.
Guided walks and bird-watching are also possibilities. Note that there’s no swimming pool.

Le Relais de l’Ankarana is a small hotel situated in the village of Mahamasina, a two minute drive from the east entrance to the Ankarana National Park. This natural park is 18,220 pristine hectares large with beautiful flora and fauna including ten species of lemur, ninety-two species of bird, chameleons, baobabs and Pachypodium. Experienced French and English speaking guides will lead you around the park, showing you amazing rivers, canyons, tropical forests, caves and of course the biggest feature of the park – the amazing Tsingy rock formations.
The hotel itself has six rooms, comprising a lounge, an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet, running water and mosquito netting.
