The lodge lies on the edge of the Southern Kalahari in the mixed tree and shrub Savannah.

The ranch is characterized by huge red sands dunes running parallel, and in a northern-westerly to south-easterly direction. This ‘Spirit of Africa’ atmosphere, coupled with service, delivered with graciousness and charm, in an unashamedly luxurious setting, will be the hallmarks of this establishment, providing excellent value and unforgettable memories for the discerning traveller.

Bagatelle Boutique Farmhouse

Located on the other side of the lodge, our Boutique Farmhouse will be officially opened in May 2020.  It offers plenty of space, comfort, great views and a fantastic safari experience.   

This exclusive part of the lodge showcase the best views of our dunes, looking out over the pans and provides you with the opportunity to interact with some of our wildlife in close proximity.  You will come to appreciate the exquisiteness of our farmhouse location.

All rooms are elegantly and comfortably furnished and have private bathrooms with hot showers, bathrooms, running water and toilets. You will quickly understand the meaning of exclusive natural setting in this area of our lodge.  Relax at the Farmhouse  for a sundowner cocktail at the spacious terrace overlooking the pan before dinner in our dinning room overlooking the Kalahari.

A relaxing walk with the Bushman (San), sharing with you their ancient survival skills and secrets from their forefathers.

Arriving at the traditional Bushman village, you will meet the family who will present you with how they used to store water in ostrich eggs , plants for medicinal use, setting up traps, the making of ostrich and bead jewellery, etc. This is really an experience, always to remember.

The guide will do the necessary translation in English, as the Bushman will be speaking in their language.

A game drive in the reserve with a variety of game such as giraffe, kudu, zebra, oryx, blue-wildebeest, eland and much more. The reserve has some of the highest dunes in this region, with views over the pans, characteristic to the Kalahari. Between the dunes, which are called streets, are the beautiful acacia trees. The Kalahari has more than 150 species of birds. The well-known suricate (meerkat) is also to be seen, although they are very scarce.

As the day draws to an end, a sundowner on the dune will await you, with refreshments and a Namibian snack, while enjoying a breath taking sunset in the Kalahari.

This activity allows one the opportunity to come up close to the cheetah, great for taking photos. The guides will provide interesting facts about this incredible cat and the history of the cheetahs in their care

In association with CCF(cheetah conservation fund), bagatelle are the custodians of the cheetahs, which are kept in a 12 hectare enclosure. Unable to fend for themselves, the three orphans namely, Ralf, Etosha, and Tuano are fed and cared lovingly by them here at bagatelle.

After this, a sundowner on the dune will await you, with refreshments and a Namibian snack, while enjoying a breath taking sunset in the Kalahari.

This will be accompanied with hot gluwein/sherry in winter or something refreshing in summer.

Excursion into the Fish River Canyon Area Morning Hike Sunrise Walk Canyon Drive Sundowner Drive in Gondwana Canyon Park

Experience the wild expanse of the Gondwana Canyon Park where the fences of ten farms were dismantled to recreate a Namibian Eden. Take a guided drive to the Fish River Canyon to be inspired by new perspectives. Celebrate sunrise amidst the quiver trees and sunset from a hillock, overlooking spectacular scenery. The Canyon lodges are comfortable havens to take a break from the road. Explore and discover the ancient wonderland, or simply luxuriate in the peace, lounging at the poolside, snoozing in the coolness of your chalet or sitting on the terrace dipping into a book.

This hike (about 6 km) takes you right into Gondwana Canyon Park. You are accompanied by a guide who will gladly share his knowledge about the fascinating desert landscape around the canyon. This tour does not include the Fish River Canyon. (Approx. 3 hours)

We drive you to a spot with a grand view. Watch the sunrise while enjoying coffee and tea. Then we walk back the short distance to the lodge. This tour does not include the Fish River Canyon. (Approx. 1 hour)

Especially for guests who want a break from the wheel or those on a fly-in safari. You are taken to the two major lookout points along the Fish River Canyon. Our guide will tell you all about the canyon's fascinating geology. (Approx. 3 hours)

The 3 hour drive is the perfect opportunity for you to acquaint yourself with the geology, flora and fauna of the Gondwana Canyon Park. This tour does not include the Fish River Canyon. It starts at Canyon Lodge or Canyon Village. Approx. 3 hours

Large old camel thorn trees greet camping guests at the Desert Horse Campsite in a small valley of the Aus Mountains. Each of the ten sites is equipped with a tap, table, grill and windbreak. Neat shower and toilet facilities are within easy reach of each site. Barbecue packs are available at the reception of Desert Horse Inn (1.5 km); those who like to skip cooking for a change are more than welcome at the Inn's restaurant (subject to space available, please enquire upon arrival). At the entry to Sossusvlei is Sesriem Canyon, At the foot of the gorge, which plunges down to 30 to 40 m, are pools that become replenished after good rains. Located perfectly at the entry to Sossusvlei inside the park gate is Sesriem Camping, right beside the gate into the desert and just a short drive from Sesriem Canyon where centuries of erosion have incised a narrow gorge about 1 km in length.
It is perfect for campers who want to experience the beauty of the Namib Desert with the sun setting over the Elim dune then the stars emerging until they fill the sky above you and the clicking of the desert barking Geckos and distant howl of the Jackal. Sit by the fire and imagine what you will.

After a good nights rest its up early (one hour before sunrise) for a drive to the sossusvlei wherer you can climb a sand dune and watch the colours change as the sun rises over the horizon slipping its morning warmth over the Namib desert dunes. Sesriem derives its name from the time when earlier pioneers tied six lengths of rawhide thongs (riem) together to draw water from the pools. Accommodation at Sesriem is provided in 24 campsites. Facilities found there include a gas station, convenience store and a secure parking area.

Our Leopard ‘experience’ will take you out into the Okonjima Nature Reserve and will allow you to spend more time with our experienced guides and participate in the research data collection for our long-standing leopard project. Some of our adult leopard are radio collared which enables the guides to track them with a specialised telemetry device contributing to frequent viewing, giving visitors an opportunity to observe these magnificent predators in their natural habitat . Although there is a av very good chance of an excellent sighting, it cannot ever be guaranteed as they are wild free-roaming predators.

The choice of going with the researcher or guide, will be determined by circumstances, weather and operations. Sightings are not guaranteed, as this complex, vulnerable species needs a gentle and respectful approach. Tracking on foot will be done in silence and maintaining a discreet distance. The Pangolin tracking is a specialized night/day (seasonal) activity. During the summer months this activity tends to take place between 10pm and 6am and during the winter months from 5pm to 11pm. As this would be the most active period of the day for these mostly nocturnal animals. You will join a guide and tracker on a walking trail in the dark within the 20 000ha Okonjima Nature Reserve. We limit participation to a max of 6 people per pangolin tracking. This gives the client insight into this secret life of the very endangered Ground Pangolin. A flashlight and walking shoes are compulsory.

This Hyaena ‘experience’ offers more time to appreciate and understand the Okonjima Nature Reserve as a balanced ecosystem, with a focus on the ‘secretly social’ and rare brown hyaena. Located in the eastern part of Etosha National Park, Namutoni Camp is built into an old German fort and features an elevated view of the King Nehale Waterhole. The camp is in close proximity to Fisher’s Pan, making it a hotspot for birders. Fort Namutoni was declared a national monument in 1950 and was opened to tourism in 1957.

The camp features spacious and comfortable chalets with en-suite bathrooms. There is a restaurant at the camp, other camp facilities include a bar, a shop, a petrol station, and a swimming pool.

Namutoni is located in the Etosha National Park in Namibia, and it’s known for its beautiful landscapes and wildlife. The Namutoni Camp offers various camping options, including:

1. Campsites: These usually come with basic facilities like restrooms and showers. You can set up tents and enjoy the surrounding nature.

2. Game Viewing: The area around Namutoni is rich in wildlife. The nearby Etosha Pan attracts many animals, making it a great spot for game viewing.

4. Amenities: The camp often has a restaurant, shop, and a swimming pool for campers to use.

Okaukuejo Camp lies within Etosha National Park, close to the southern Anderson Gate, and serves as the park’s administrative centre. Accommodation includes air-conditioned rooms and chalets equipped with en-suite bathrooms, refrigerators, and tea stations, with select units offering lounge areas and verandas overlooking a floodlit waterhole. Guests can enjoy a selection of meals at the on-site restaurant, providing a comfortable dining experience. Guests can experience the thrill of nearby wildlife sightings, with guided game drives on offer and animals often gathering at the waterhole both day and night. Leisure amenities include a swimming pool, curio shop, and access to the Etosha Ecological Institute.

Hidden among large grey granite boulders and Mopani trees, Hoada Campsite offers travellers a serene home in the wilderness of Namibia. Guests will be guided through surrounding conservancy farms on foot, visiting a couple of authentic homesteads of the Damara people which allows them with the exclusive opportunity to spend time with their hosts understanding their origins, cultures, traditions and their approach to human wildlife conflict farming within the harsh desert conditions. Your guide will take you to local households to appreciate how those people of Bantu origins who are related to the Himba and Herero build houses, prepare their food, heal with traditional medicine and manufacture artefacts for sale. Get those comfortable shoes out as it is about an hours hike to the farm and another hour back. Depending on the time spent on the farm, you can expect to be back at your camp after 3 hours.
