Walking safaris can be arranged on request, allowing guests to explore as much of this prolific region of the Luangwa Valley as possible.

In 2022, GRI opened a unique and immersive Wildlife Discovery Centre in Lusaka National Park. The centre not only provides free conservation education to over 5,000 children every year but is also the new home of our renowned Elephant Nursery. Fully accessible to all, the Wildlife Discovery Centre will welcome an estimated 40,000 local and international visitors each year to immerse themselves in interactive displays and exhibits that will highlight conservation issues and the efforts to resolve them. Through the centre, GRI aims to make a significant long-term contribution to the protection of wildlife and wild spaces by showcasing Zambia’s natural wealth, increasing environmental awareness and inspiring greater conservation stewardship.

The elephant orphanage and WDC is 10 minutes drive from MT Cheza guest house and is included on a Lusaka tour for its guests. Open seven days a week from 09:00 to 15:00. The feeding of the baby elephants happens at 12:00 midday. Entrance fee for international visitors is $15 USD. There is a café on the premises as well as an outlet of the Lusaka Collective, the place in Lusaka for quality made in Zambia handicrafts.

the 37 D Gallery in nearby Kabulonga is more than just an art gallery. It has its own Jagoda Gem Shop and The Rock Cafe where you can enjoy coffee while soaking in all the exquisite art works.

MT Cheza will run its guests free of charge to the nearby Bush Spa - 10 minutes up the road on a beautifully wooded property - where a diverse range of treatments are available, from manicures and pedicures, to massages and facials.

A guided tour of “the Victoria Falls”, situated merely 7km from Old Drift Lodge, is included in the nightly rate, but excludes park fees, which are payable direct. This excursion can be booked in conjunction with a lunch at the Lookout Café.

Morning and afternoon game drives in 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles will take you along the Zambezi River through the Zambezi National Park. Game that can be seen include elephants, buffalo, kudu, giraffe, zebra, eland, impala, warthogs, lion, wild dog and on occasions, cheetah. Tea baskets and snacks will be taken on the morning drives and Sundowners and snacks on the afternoon game drives.

Old Drift has two luxury 10 seater pontoon boats which will be used for morning and afternoon river safaris. Drinks and snacks will be provided on both safaris.

Morning and afternoon walking safaris will take place along the river but also in the spring lines of Zambezi National Park. Guests will be accompanied by a Professional Guide. Please note that children U 16 years are not permitted on walking safaris.

Guests have the option to enjoy a lunch at the Lookout Café, inclusive of drinks.

This can be booked in conjunction with the Tour of the Falls or for the adrenalin lovers, after they have taken part in any of the high wire activities that take place at the “Lookout”.
