The Silo Hotel | Cape Town
The Silo is a magical space towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City. The Silo hs 28 rooms, including a spectacular penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Colourful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture. The 6 room categories are based on the room size and the views. The rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally due to the unique architecture of The Silo and in particular the ingenious design of the pillowed window bays which are one of the key architectural features.
The building has been designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building’s original structure is the addition of pillowed glazing panels, inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors, which will bulge outward as if gently inflated. By night, this transforms the building into a glowing lantern or beacon in the harbour.
There are 8 Silo Rooms which are 41m² (441ft²) including a balcony with spectacular harbour views. While these rooms are slightly smaller, the bathrooms are as large and majestic as other room categories. Double volume spacing mean the floor to ceiling pillowed glass windows offer 5m high views across the Cape Town Harbour.
There are 6 Duplex Suites across the 6th and 7th floors with either mountain or harbour views. These suites vary between 76m² (818ft²) and 88m² (947ft²) including a small balcony and each has the bedroom on a mezzanine level. These rooms maintain the same 5.5m high windows, but have half the ceiling height due to the two mezzanine levels.
There are 7 Deluxe Superior Suites across the 8th, 9th, and 10th floors with spectacular 5.5m (18ft) high pillowed glass windows showcasing the natural wonder of Cape Town. They range in size from 60m² (646ft²) to 67m² (721ft²) including a balcony.
There are 4 Family Duplex Suites on the 7th floor with views over the old harbour and out to the distant mountains or over the V&A Waterfront and Signal Hill. Family Suites range from 111m² (1195ft²) to 128m² (1378ft²) including a balcony and each has a mezzanine level with 2 bedrooms. These rooms maintain the same 5.5m high windows, but have half the ceiling height due to the two mezzanine levels.
There are 2, triple aspect Royal Suites facing the Atlantic Ocean, Robben Island and the distant mountains. Each Royal Suite is 132m² (1421ft²) in size and each has 2 bedrooms and a generous balcony.
The 211m² (2012ft²), one-bedroom penthouse is the jewel in The Royal Portfolio's crown located on the top floor of The Silo facing Table Mountain with triple aspect views of Cape Town. This includes a 24m² (258ft²) balcony.
The Two bedroom penthouse consists of the 211m² (2012ft²), one-bedroom penthouse, with a 24m² (258ft²) balcony inter-leading with the 60m2 (646ft²) Deluxe Superior Suite, including a balcony.
This Two bedroom penthouse is located on the top floor of The Silo with the penthouse facing Table Mountain with triple aspect views of Cape Town and the Deluxe Superior Suite offering views of the harbour.

Widely recognised as one of the best art hotels in the world (by the likes of Forbes and The Telegraph), The Silo Hotel houses a remarkable collection. Vibrant colours shine through as the contemporary artwork and eclectic design of Liz Biden contrast Heatherwick Studio’s stark industrial architecture.
Situated below The Silo Hotel lies the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, the world's largest contemporary African art museum. This incredible space is a momentous mark on Africa’s cultural canvas, an exciting new era for African artists, and a remarkable achievement for our beautiful continent. This public, not-for-profit contemporary art museum collects, preserves, researches, and exhibits twenty-first century art from African and its Diaspora. Containing over 100 galleries, spread over nine floors, this exquisite space houses a diverse and unique range of contemporary African art. Robben Island, easily seen from the rooftop of The Silo Hotel, is situated only 9kms offshore from Cape Town. The island was declared a World Heritage site in 1999 because of its historic political importance, having been the forced home of Nelson Mandela for 18 of the 27 years that he was a political prisoner of the apartheid regime. It is advisable to allow us to pre-book this very popular tour for you. Allow half a day for this tour.
Table Mountain is a great source of pride to all Capetonians. At 260 million years old it is older than the Andes, the Rockies, The Himalayas and the Alps, and was once under the sea. It was recently crowned as the seventh natural wonder of the world. A four minute cable car ride will take you to the 1067m “table top”, with spectacular views on the way up.
Cape Town has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches on offer. Clifton Beaches: there are four Clifton beaches, each as beautiful as the others – pack your sunscreen, a cap, some water and your Frisbee. Camps Bay: the palm fronds of Camps Bay make for the most dramatic sunset pictures – a great spot for cocktails or a bite to eat. Muizenberg: head down to the Sunrise Beach in Muizenberg and take a surfing lesson with the local experts. Cape Point & Boulders Beach: explore the Cape Peninsula and see the fascinating penguins of Boulder’s Beach on a wonderful day trip from Cape Town. Please ask a member of our team should you need directions or transport.
The best place to experience Cape Malay cuisine is on a walking tour through the Bo-Kaap (Above The Cape) District in Cape Town, an area with steep cobblestone streets and brightly-coloured houses where former Cape Malay slaves settled in the early 19th century. Stop to enjoy a local Bobotie, Sosatie, Koeksister or Cape Malay Curry for lunch whilst learning about the rich heritage of the Cape Malay people who live there.
Situated on the sixth floor of the hotel, The Willaston Bar is named after the first ship to export grain from the original silo complex back in 1924. With stunning views of Cape Town through the 5,5m high pillowed glass windows, there is no better place to enjoy a classic cocktail or a glass of wine from the carefully crafted and ever-evolving list of local and international wines.
Executive Chef Veronica Canha-Hibbert and her team believe in good, honest and approachable food that showcases seasonal, local ingredients.
The Granary Café offers an immersive dining experience like no other. Enjoy lunch or dinner while surrounded by glistening geometric windows and spectacular sunset views. Share memorable moments over a delicious selection of contemporary-style dishes that can be perfectly paired with something special from our extensive wine list. The menu inherits the same comfortable, eclectic and contemporary style as Liz Biden’s hotel interiors.
Royal Tea is served daily, allowing guests to enjoy a delicate selection of sweet and savoury treats, including beautiful petit gateauxs, buttermilk scones and clotted cream, served on an étagère at the copper-topped tables of The Granary Café.
The Silo Rooftop offers guests a relaxed and easy eating experience. Poolside lounging is complemented with treats from the tempura bar, fresh oysters, pulled pork sandwiches, and a selection of healthy snacks from our raw bar. Enjoy a glass of bubbly or a classic cocktail while you soak up the last of the day’s sunshine.
The Silo Rooftop is for hotel guests and is open to the public by prior reservation only. Kindly note that access to The Silo Rooftop is weather dependent.

Silvan Safari Lodge | Sabi Sand Nature Reserve
Silvan Safari is the newest luxury lodge in the Sabi Sand region of the Kruger National Park. No indulgence was ignored or level of luxury overlooked to create the world’s grandest safari experience. Located in the northern section of the spectacular Sabi Sand region, where the roar of the lion is your morning wake up call and the cry of the fish eagle your hourly reminder that every heart and soul on earth beats with the connected rhythm of these historic lands.
Silvan redefines luxury safari in Africa and the inspirational leadwood forest provides the ideal canvas for this groundbreaking lodge. The contemporary, modern architecture is slick and bold. With six extraordinary suites, and one family unit, the lodge provides an enchanting, intimate setting to immerse yourself in this forested paradise. The pure, calming energy of the Manyeleti River flows at Silvan’s doorstep, nourishing the trees and bringing life to the area. Revel in this from your own private plunge pool, watching elephants stroll by in the grandest safari pool in Africa. The design and decor, environmental impact are all state-of-the-art, yet elegantly understated.
The Kierie Klapper, also known as the bushwillow, is famed for its copper-coloured seed pods which inspired the colour tones and design elements of this suite. The rich teal of our bee eater, a notable character throughout Silvan, also leaves its signature mark.
Different textures and delicately embroidered elements are woven into every corner of this suite. A collaborative watercolor and ink line drawing adorning the wall feeds the imagination with the story of a duiker browsing the bushwillow’s leaves while lovebirds playfully flit from branch to branch.
Celebrating luxury with tones of rich, golden yellow and deep green, Silvan's second suite takes its inspiration from the Cassia tree, affectionately known as the golden rain tree for its striking yellow flowers which ignite the African bush in summer.
The bright and inviting hue of this tree complements the unique design elements and original layout of the suite. Layered copper artworks adorn the walls with our friendly bee eater who can once again be seen making cameo appearances throughout.
One of Africa’s famous Acacia tree varietals, the Knobthorn is a slow growing, deciduous tree found throughout the Sabi Sand. The name comes from the characteristic knobbly bark which develops as the tree ages, making it easy to identify.
The Knobthorn suite is wheelchair-friendly, providing guests easy access to the main lodge. The soft grey tones of its bark and the fluffy, delicate, yellow bloom of its flowers have been elegantly introduced into the decor and design of the suite. Journey through the Knobthorn and relish in the restorative energy of this sturdy tree.
This hardy, evergreen tree which often goes unnoticed in the bush, except for the black rhino who loves to browse its leaves, lends its spirit to this suite. While the story of the tree is a palpable theme, keep your eyes open to try find it when out on a game drive.
The gentle blue-grey tones of this suite, inspired by the Blue Guarri, create a haven of peace and calm. This energy flows seamlessly through the room with the bespoke art being a wonder to behold and the copper glow providing warmth and comfort.
One of Africa's most strikingly spectacular trees when in bloom, the Tree Wisteria has a rounded crown with sweeping foliage cascading towards the floor. The purple-mauve flowers droop from the tree in bunches, often covering the whole tree in a dazzling purple haze.
Its intense colourings have been painted throughout the Tree Wisteria suite in grand strokes, giving it a fresh and refined feel. With an expansive layout, lavish decor and the private plunge pool set tantalisingly at the edge of the deck, this suite is definitely one to savour.
A true icon of the African bush and the backdrop to Silvan Safari, the Leadwood tree is the entire inspiration behind this family suite. An extremely dense hardwood, the Leadwood is a favourite for animals who feed on its leaves but also very popular for the campfire known for its intense heat and lasting embers.
The Leadwood Suite’s majestic stone archway is the perfect entrance to greet any guest to this magnificent hideaway. However, the mighty ancient Leadwood tree emerging thought the deck, having been rooted here for aeons, is the true master of this space with the beauty of this tree proving to be utterly mesmerising.

which abound in these landscapes. Many fine ornithologist guides reside at Londolozi.
Yoga means ‘union’ in Sanskrit and refers to the bringing together of mind, body and spirit. Asanas, also a Sanskrit word, refers to the poses and postures developed in India to join mind and body in spiritual awareness.
At Londolozi we have added the powerful elements of nature to the yoga experience, using both the natural energy of the location and tailor made Asanas, to create a yoga form which is suitable for beginners and intermediate practitioners.
You are free to schedule a private yoga session in your room or in the shade of your deck. Alternatively, daily classes are held on the yoga deck beside Founders Camp. Please ask your camp manager for class times. We look forward to you joining us to greet the sun and strengthen the vital life of the body.
"Londolozi could well be one of the most forward-thinking emotional-wellness offerings in southern Africa right now" - Condé Naste Traveller Magazine, The Spa Guide, 2019

“Wilderness reminds us what it means to be human, what we are connected to rather
than what we are separate from." – Terry Tempest Williams
Londolozi’s fully equipped gym offers running, cycling and rowing machines which allow for a perfect workout, complemented by a daily routine of eating well and relaxing into harmony with nature. The gym is situated in Varty Camp and is open to all guests.
Campfires, storytelling, red wine and good company are the hallmark of any winter safari. Coming from a long line of storytellers, Londolozi’s history is steeped in the tradition of campfire yarns told late into the night. In each of the 5 exclusive camps you can hear the whispers of our ancestors and embodied in our history, are the legends and myths of the mysteries and adventures of safari. Each camp has its own spirit and each has its own campfire which awaits you.
On visiting Londolozi in 1992 Mandela saw the vision that was being lived by the employees and management in collaboration with nature.
“During my long walk to freedom, I had the rare privilege to visit Londolozi. There I saw people of all races living in harmony amidst the beauty that mother nature offers” - Nelson Mandela
It is in this light that the Freedom’s Way art installation has been completed to draw attention to the values which Nelson Mandela put forward to our nation and to compliment the Londolozi village walk which all guests are encouraged to experience.
Starting at the 1926 Sparta Camp, situated in the heart of Varty Camp, the village walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela is led by Linah Lamula. This short walk from Varty Camp is best taken after breakfast. The village walk allows guests to interact with many of our staff and their families who have lived and worked at Londolozi for over 30 years.
While it is important to recognise Mandela’s solo achievements, it is critical that we take his passion into our own lives, taking forward the elements of great leadership to heal the human affliction in the world. Nelson Mandela is an icon and leader who is loved by all South Africans, young, old, rich and poor. He is known and respected throughout the world. Through all he suffered and achieved and through his attitude and values he has taught us the most valuable lessons as a country and each of us individuals.
Courage: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid but he who conquers that fear.”
Freedom: “I have walked the long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter. I have made mistakes along the way. But I have discovered the secret after climbing a great hill, one only finds there are many more hills to climb.”
Resilience: “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.”
Trust: “We signal that good can be achieved amongst human beings who are prepared to trust, prepared to believe in the goodness of people.”
Unity: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Empathy: “I stand here before you not as a prophet but as a humble servant of you, the people. Your tireless and heroic sacrifices have made it possible for me to be here today. I, therefor place the remaining years of my life in your hands.”
Vision: “The power of imagination created the illusion that my vision went much further than the naked eye could actually see.”
Patience: “Patience is waiting, not passively waiting. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow.”
