Wilderness Chitabe Lediba | Okavango Delta

14 Nov 2023 - 15 Nov 2023

On the same island as its sister camp, Chitabe Lediba is a smaller, more intimate destination for small groups and families. Views over the “lediba” – a former lagoon that is now a waterhole – give the opportunity to watch the daily animal traffic. Beyond the camp, Okavango and Kalahari landscapes meet to form rich habitats. Of the five guest tents, two are specially designed for families. Each is decorated in a unique, inviting style, while mealtimes in the intimate dining area (with its views across the floodplains) lend themselves to recounting tales of game drives and nature walks. - INSIDER TIP - Scan the bushveld during your evening drive for nocturnal mammals such as civet, genet, bushbabies, owls and leopard.

Duke's Camp | Ng12 Concession

16 Nov 2023 - 17 Nov 2023

The adventurous spirit of Jack Bousfield ventures into new territory, with the opening of Duke’s Camp in the magical wilderness of the northern Okavango Delta.

This landmark camp is named in honour of Sarefo ‘Duke’ Sarefo, the custodian of this bountiful piece of wilderness. Duke was born 80 years ago on the very island that the camp now occupies, and his ancestral roots run deep into these sandy soils.

Pitched on raised wooden decks beneath a canopy of ebony and leadwood trees, the luxurious safari tents offer an unforgettable under-canvas adventure in the midst of this remarkable World Heritage Site. With expert guides honed in the bushcraft and lore of the Delta, there are few better ways to discover this wild landscape.

Duke’s Camp is a striking safari destination set on a vast concession rich in game and natural beauty, and it lies waiting to be discovered.

AFRICAN CONDITIONS
Please note that itineraries depend on site conditions. Travelling in Africa can lead to the unexpected and it’s any participants in our safaris must have a taste for adventure. Travelling in remote areas you may encounter problems like bad roads conditions, bad weather, mechanical failures, or your vehicle can become stuck in mud and water, which could delay and change the course of the safari. This is also part of the experience and adventure travel in Africa! Therefore, participants should have a certain spirit of flexibility when choosing this kind of trip.

Sitatunga Private Island | Ng12 Concession

18 Nov 2023 - 19 Nov 2023

Sitatunga Private Island opened mid-July 2023 in Botswana's Okavango Delta. Built on a raised, wrap-around railway sleeper private deck using entirely recycled materials, Sitatunga Private Island can accommodate up to eight guests as part of Great Plains Conservation's latest Okavango Delta water-based Réserve-Collection Safari Camp.

Sitatunga Private Island is an extraordinary place. It is a private island and is one of the few locations where one can still see the rare aquatic antelope from camp and by boat, which is the main activity here in addition to walking and occasional safari drives. It is deep Okavango Delta and, as such, is rich in birding. Head out on a boat to view elephants, crocodiles, and hippos all day, every day.

Sitatunga Private Island is unlike any other Great Plains property. The exquisite Réserve level camp is pushing the eco-design boundary in a remote region in Botswana whilst also offering the highest level of hospitality and accommodation with incredible activities to enjoy in the wilderness.

Sitatunga Private Island, entirely surrounded by water, has a blue theme. This is barefoot luxury, but not far from the crocodiles and hippos in the deep reed bed lined channels of one of the greatest rivers on Earth.
