Sarus Crane Tour (14 days India)

Over 1200 of the world’s 8650 species are found in India. This abundance is attributable to the extraordinary variety of habitat and climate. Our 15-day journey takes us from Delhi through the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, including such special birds as Cheer Pheasant, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Indian Skimmer, Painted Spurfowl, Painted Sandgrouse and Mottled Wood Owl.

Ornithologists may find some very rare species of birds such as the Great Indian Bustard, the Indian Courser, the White-browed Bush Chat and the Green Avadavat. This journey also leads us to some of the best viewing areas for Indian mammal species. We visit the oldest national park of the country, the famous Corbett National Park, a paradise for birdwatchers, the park is known to host more than 500 species of birds.

This tour samples all the major habitats of northwestern India, from the foot of the Himalayas at Nainital to Agra with the incomparable Taj Mahal; and the great scenery at Chambal River with its Gharial crocodiles and Sarus Cranes; to the world-famous waterbird sanctuary Bharatpur and the dry thorn-forest of Ranthambore with its wonderful Tigers.
