You arrive today in N'Djamena where you will be met and then transferred through to the Hilton Hotel. where you will be able to relax and enjoy the views of N'Djamena from this newly constructed hotel.
After breakfast we will transfer back to the airport for our charter flight through to Zakouma National Park. The flight is about 90mins and will allow you to see the vastness of this huge country and the variable landscapes.
The Zakouma safari starts straight from landing on our way to camp.
Activities that we will be able to do will include game drives, bush walks and night drives. that will give us the best opportunities to explore this amazing oasis in Africa.
There is also an option to do a low level flight over the park - this is dependant on what the plane is needed for but during your week it should be possible to do this.
This park is a top birding destination so you will see many birds that you recognise the family but maybe not the species so you will paging through the books trying to work things out, I recmomend the Birds of Africa - South of the Sahara as probably the best, there are copies in camp if you are worried about weight.
A visit to the local markets adds a bit of local culture to the safari, these markets are set up weekly for local traders and villagers to buy and sell, food, fabrics and animals. A fascinating look into a very authentic way of life in rural Africa.
Going out for the night to fly camp in an area of the park that we might not have seen already is a great way to get back to basics and really enhance your Zakouma experience.
Going for a walk here can happen at any time we will respond to what is happening on the ground and decide what works best, but waking up and going for a walk around one of the pools or down one of the rivers is always a great way to enjoy the bush.
We leave the park today after breakfast with a chartered plane that will take us back to N'Djamena that will get you there late morning so please make sure your International flights are scheduled for after lunch. If you require we can arrange an extra night in N'Djamena to suit your international flights.
