Day 1 - 3

Busanga Plains

Day notes

This area known as the southern tree line is and is a good area for predator sightings of all kinds, traditionally Lion prides have been found here taking advantage of the game density and far enough from the open plans prides so as not to get in conflict.

We find Cheetah move in this area often migrating seasonally on the plains as they dry especially when Oribi antelope can be found on the edge of the plains and when the Wildebeest begin to give birth.

Sounds from the bush at night wafting through the walls of your tent are magical.

Flexibility is foremost and so days will keep you as busy as you wish. Game drives on the open plains are the best way to approach wildlife.
If you wish, your guide will take you for a full day drive out on to the plains taking a light picnic lunch.

Days begin early and follow a similar plan to Musekese.

Amongst some of the more notable sights at this time of year, are resident herds of Roan antelope which are very approachable and photogenic. There are literally thousands of Red Lechwe on the greener lush grass plains. A journey to the Papyrus Marsh is sometimes a chance to see them running and leaping in the wet areas, and here there are some great birding opportunities.

Pools crammed with Hippo and the chance to see breeding herds of Elephants crossing the plains to drink and bathe in the early morning or later in the afternoon are magical moments to capture. The Lions of the Busanga and Ntemwa are legendary and we aim to make them feature in your safari.

With such a mix of habitats and wildlife species, anything is possible.

Look out across the plains and you can see a colony of storks, mornings and evenings are a procession of birds migrating to and from the Busanga swamps.

Meals at Ntemwa are just as they are at Musekese, prepared by bush chefs who have been trained to create incredibly fresh and tasty meals of a very high standard form a very basic bush kitchen. And  are served either around the fire or on the cleverly created deck with far-reaching views over the plains.
