Xugana Island Lodge by Desert & Delta Safaris is situated on a private concession and is widely regarded as the most stunning permanent water site in the Okavango Delta—an African jewel. Thanks to its remote setting, the lodge offers unparalleled privacy and uninterrupted views of the surrounding oasis. 

Xugana will reopen on 1 May 2025, following an exciting rebuild.

The pool will be relocated for panoramic views of the Delta, while the curio shop, reception, and dining areas will be integrated into expansive multi-level decks.

Two new rooms and a family suite will be built in a previously unexplored area of the island, further enhancing the lodge’s offerings while maintaining its reputation for seclusion and tranquillity. Interiors will be reimagined to capture the blue hues of the lagoon. 

A standout new addition is the Over-Water Fire Deck, which will extend beyond the island, allowing guests to step out onto the water and enjoy stunning views beneath the open sky.

Enjoy a range of guided activities, including boating, fishing, mokoro (traditional canoe) excursions, walking safaris, and more. The area is teeming with wildlife, and birdwatching is exceptional. Seasonal fishing for bream and tiger fish is a highlight for keen and novice anglers.
