La Fortuna is known for its excellent mountain biking routes, thanks to the diversity of trails, including

the route used for the famous “Arenal Lake Ride” where you can experience amazing adventure and

unbelievable nature at the same time. This tour is an excellent way to enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery

of the Arenal Volcano, the Arenal Lake, and their surroundings, while mountain biking.

We will begin our 13-26 km ride on the outskirts of the Arenal Volcano National Park, which will be our

starting point. Our professional guides will provide you with high quality biking equipment and safety

instructions before beginning our ride towards the small town of El Castillo, which borders the south rim

of the Arenal Lake, renowned to be the largest man-made fresh water lake in Costa Rica.

Once we arrive in El Castillo, we will talk about the town and how it was affected by the 1968 eruption.

Next we will head to the Caño Negro River, known for its width, and as of of the most important rivers

in maintaining the Arenal Lake’s water level. After we cross the river we will take an abandoned route

which connects to Monteverde, passing a few creeks, rocky patches, and protected forests, to take the

road back towards the Arenal Volcano National Park.

During the trip, we will stop for a break to enjoy a picnic with fruit, nuts, energy bars, and energy drinks.
