Chundukwa River Lodge

*The Victoria Fall Day trip is a unique offering where you have a private guide and vehicle to take you to Victoria Falls and transfer you between your chosen activities and guide you around Livingstone town. Please note that the activity fees are not included. 

Situated on the grassy banks of the Zambezi River just 25 km upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls, owner run Chundukwa offers a cosy retreat in this beautiful corner of Zambia. Guests have the option of enjoying the tranquillity of the lodge surrounds a well as exploring Livingstone town and participating in a range of adventure activities on the private ‘day trip’ individually tailored directly in camp.

The lodge was built by the owners alongside a team of local artisans with all material and furniture produced in Zambia, and blends perfectly with its surroundings. The lodge stylishly blends a rustic framework with comfortable modern features, enhanced with traditional printed fabrics and local wares. Accommodation comprises of 5 elevated open-fronted thatched roof chalets, each individually styled and named after birds: 1 family unit (Jacana), 3 double/ twin rooms (Francolin, Honeyguide and Bee-Eater) and 1 honeymoon unit (Kingfisher).  Each chalet has uninterrupted river views, mosquito nets and fans and a spacious ensuite bathroom. Additionally, for those with a larger family or group, there is the 3 bedroomed Chundu Cottage which boasts a private living area, fully equipped kitchen for private dining, swimming pool and outdoor deck.

The main lodge can be enjoyed by all guests and features a lounge, dining and pool area. Chundukwa has an active stable yard and horse trails along the river and in the bush surrounding the lodge. Wildlife abounds in the area, where sightings of hippo, elephant and birdlife can be found surrounding the lodge. From your open fronted room every evening the sounds of the bush - grunting hippo, tinkling frogs and chattering birdcalls create a unique African lullaby.  

Chundukwa offers guests the option of an in-house activity daily plus one privately escorted ‘day trip’ where they have a private vehicle and driver. Guests can choose from a wide range of activities available from the lodge and in and around Livingstone including canoe trips, horse trails and tiger fishing not to mention a guided tour of the Victoria Falls and a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. These can all be pre-booked or booked directly at the lodge.
