Sanbona Wildlife Reserve | Dwyka Tented Lodge
THE CAPE'S PREMIER WILDLIFE DESTINATION.
Sanbona is one of South Africa’s largest privately-owned nature reserves, stretching across 62 000 hectares of rich protected ecosystems within two biodiversity hotspots. Situated between the small, historic towns of Montagu and Barrydale, skirting the edge of the R62 highway. The reserve is bisected by the towering Warmwaterberg Mountain, characterised by sculpted 500 million-year-old Cape Fold Mountains. An area rich in culture, history, and heritage, and one of the world’s most biologically significant yet threatened regions. Sanbona aims to create a balance where critically important ecosystems, endangered wildlife and flora can prosper. Sanbona and the spirit of the San people welcomes you.
Embraced by striking rock formations, Dwyka Tented Lodge epitomises an atmosphere of seclusion. Nine luxury tents, with private decks and heated plunge pools are set in a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine. The lodge stands proud within the beautifully weathered landscape reflecting the nomadic lifestyle of the Khoisan hunter-gatherers who once roamed this land.
A range of experiences, including nature drives, guided nature walks, ancient rock art, and stargazing, create an unforgettable safari adventure. At the same time, Sanbona strives to emphasise and create awareness that true luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand without compromise. Through its unique non-profit ownership model, every stay contributes to conservation, community and positive impact.
Explore the haunting beauty of a harsh, unforgiving landscape.
