Day Tours
A 45 minute Fitzroy Flyer ride will get you from Cairns to Fitzroy Island and back daily, perfect for day trips to visit the Great Barrier Reef.
Turtle Rehabilitation Tours
The Fitzroy Island campus of Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre operates talks from Tuesday-Sunday at 12:45pm & 2:30pm and are 30 minutes in duration. A maximum of 15 guests, accompanied by a tour guide. Advance booking is essential. The talks people to learn about not only the history of the organisation but also the journey to recovery that injured or sick turtles undergo whilst at this Centre, prior to their release back into the ocean.
Glass Bottom Boat Tours
Departing twice a day the Glass Bottom Boat Tours allow you to get up close and personal with the Great Barrier Reef. The sheltered waters around Fitzroy Island abound with soft coral and marine life. Daily - times vary, bookings essential.
Snorkeling
Snorkel straight off the beach to see tropical marine life and coral.
Kayaking
Explore the Reef at your own pace with single or double kayaks.
Scuba Diving
Diving services on Fitzroy Island are offered exclusively by Octopus Dive who offer a 3 Day PADI Open Water Diver Course. There is no Resort Dive or Introductory Dives offered.
Great Barrier Reef - Sunlover Reef Cruises
Fitzroy is conveniently located between Cairns and the outer Great Barrier Reef. Whilst staying on Fitzroy Island enjoy a day on the outer Moore Reef Pontoon snorkeling or diving.
National Park Walks
At Fitzroy Island, it’s all about rainforest, beaches and high reaches, with just as much to explore on land as in the sea.
Explore the bush walking tracks throughout the island, like the Lighthouse and Summit walks, with views all the way to the Great Barrier Reef. Trek to magic spots like Secret Garden and Nudey Beach, one of Far North Queensland’s most iconic beaches.
