Wüstenquell Conservation Farm

Wüstenquell Conservation Farm & Lodge is a remote and scenic desert retreat situated on a 6,000-hectare private farm bordering the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Set among ancient granite rock formations, open plains and dramatic desert landscapes, Wüstenquell offers guests a peaceful base from which to experience the quiet beauty, geology and natural history of this unique part of Namibia.

The lodge is well suited to travellers looking for space, nature and a slower pace. Accommodation options include comfortable lodge rooms, the Rondawel, Mountain Chalets, Zebra Outpost and campsites. Each option offers a different way to experience the farm, from simple and comfortable lodge accommodation to more remote stays surrounded by the landscape. The Mountain Chalets are set apart in the rocky hills and include basic kitchen facilities, an outdoor bathroom, outdoor braai area and a small deck where guests can enjoy the views and stillness of the area.

Wüstenquell is especially known for its striking rock formations, geological features and San rock art sites. Guided farm and rock tours give guests the opportunity to learn more about the landscape, the history of the area and the people who once moved through these desert spaces. Sunset drives are also available and are a highlight for many visitors, ending at a granite outcrop where guests can enjoy wide views across the farm as the light changes over the desert.

The lodge offers a relaxed atmosphere with a bar, dining room, beer garden and swimming pool. Guests can spend the day exploring, walking, birdwatching, photographing the rock formations or simply relaxing in the quiet surroundings. Meals can be arranged, and the lodge is also a good option for travellers who want to break the journey between central Namibia, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and the Namib Desert.

Wüstenquell operates with a strong awareness of its remote desert environment. The property runs on solar power, makes use of water-saving systems and incorporates practical, upcycled elements throughout the lodge. Guests are encouraged to respect the fragile environment, stay on marked roads and join guided activities to explore the farm responsibly.

With its combination of unusual landscapes, peaceful accommodation, geological interest and warm Namibian hospitality, Wüstenquell Conservation Farm & Lodge offers a memorable stay for self-drive travellers, nature lovers, photographers, hikers and guests wanting to experience a quieter side of Namibia.
