Guided hike to La Cangreja Waterfall trail -Rincón de la Vieja National Park

Do not miss out on one of the best day tours in Guanacaste, Costa Rica! Walk five km inside the national park to reach the waterfall. Along the trail you can see wildlife such as white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys and spider monkeys, coatis, armadillos, agoutis, iguanas, and birds such as the bobo bird or the emerald tucancillo.
From 40 meters high, a bubbling white water flow comes out from among the green forest, and the La Cangreja Waterfall forms a transparent pool of blue water at its base. Copper minerals that come from the volcano, dissolved in the water, give the water a heavenly blue color. Our bilingual naturalist guide provides a picnic lunch for you to enjoy next to the waterfall. Come relax in pure paradise!
Transportation to the entrance of the national park and the return trip is by vehicle from Hacienda Guachipelin (10 minutes per trip).

Guided hike to Las Pailas trail at Rincón de la Vieja National Park

The Las Pailas trails of Rincon de la Vieja National Park are located very close to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin.
The Las Pailas sector spectacularly shows the power of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano, the most active and largest volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Steam and sulfur come from natural fumaroles of the yellow and rusty soil. Witness clay pails in various shades of brown with boiling volcanic water, fine gray volcanic mud bubbles and explosions in large pails. This volcano is like no other in Costa Rica.
With our bilingual naturalist guide, you can walk the 3.5-km Las Pailas circular path through the tropical forest to enjoy the best views of the volcano, incredible nature, volcanic activity, and wildlife. The park is home to more than 300 species of birds, and many other animals, such as armadillos, bays, iguanas, coatis and white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys and spider monkeys. When we finish in the park, our one-day tour in Guanacaste ends with the walk back to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin.

Las Chorreras Waterfall

Near the Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, Las Chorreras waterfall is a beautiful spot where you can unwind in nature and swim in a pool created by a tropical cascade.
Two twin falls cascade into a stunning pool of sky-blue mineral waters. A small canyon of volcanic rock surrounds the falls and the pool, creating an intimate and secluded tropical oasis for a refreshing dip.
Las Chorreras waterfall is located 1.5 km from Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin. Walk for 30 minutes along beautiful forest trails to reach the waterfall, enjoying the picturesque landscape of the dry tropical forest and observing the wildlife along the way. You’ll have plenty of time to relax at the waterfall before walking back to the hotel.

Oropendola waterfall

The picturesque Oropéndola Waterfall will most likely make your jaw drop. Set in a gorge along the Río Blanco River, the waterfall bisects a craggy rock wall and tumbles for 82 feet before crashing into a most inviting turquoise pool. Swims here are refreshing and heavenly; sunrays drench the water with warmth and light, there are shallow areas that are perfect for wading, and the entire place feels secluded. Part of the fun of visiting this waterfall is descending into the gorge on the footbridge that crosses the river.

Tube Down the Rio Negro
Enjoy non-stop fun and excitement bouncing and splashing down five km (three miles) of Class II and III rapids along this narrow, rushing river of crystal clear water. There are plenty of quiet pools along the way to appreciate the beautiful tropical scenery of the Rio Negro (Black River). Our special, individual river tube rafts are designed with handles and protective bottoms. Guides go with you and ensure your safety and enjoyment throughout the duration of your experience.
Part of your river tubing adventure includes riding our trusty Costa Rican ranch horses from Hacienda Guachipelin along scenic trails through the forest to get to the river.

Rappel and Rock Climb through a Waterfall
Are you up for the challenge on this extreme adventure tour in Rincon de la Vieja in Guanacaste, Costa Rica? Feel your adrenaline pump as you participate in these exciting rappels in majestic waterfalls, ending with a cool dip in the pool for a refreshing swim.
After the first rappel, rock climb assisted by the wall of rock next to the waterfall to go back down on rappel. Then you can make another rappel in a second location and a Tarzan pendulum into the water of the waterfall.
You use climbing ropes, harnesses, and complete safety equipment, with experienced guides to assist you throughout the duration of your Rincon de la Vieja canopy tour.

Beautiful and relaxing, the volcanic hot springs at Hacienda Guachipelin bubble up on the Rio Negro, naturally heated by the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano — the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Surrounded by a dense dry tropical forest, the Rio Negro Hot Springs area is beautiful and peaceful. The crystal clear waters of the river flow near the 10 pools built on the riverbank, filled with thermal waters rich in minerals, naturally heated in the depths of the volcano. You can access the pools on both banks of the river thanks to two suspension bridges.
For a rejuvenating treatment on your body, you can use the hot volcanic mud, which works just like a spa body masque. When the mud dries, you can wash it in the cold waters of the river before entering the thermal water pools again.
We have dressing rooms, bathrooms, and lockers at the entrance of the hot springs. From there, you walk 350 meters along a beautiful path in the woods until you reach the thermal springs.
