Ecoterra Costa Rica Lake Arenal Sport Fishing
The Arenal Lake lays on the border of the Alajuela and Guanacaste, near the Arenal Volcano and
Monteverde. Lake Arenal is catalogued as the largest lake in Costa Rica. Its dam was built in 1979 to
produce electricity for the country. Much of the country's power is still produced by this hydroelectric
plant.
We will depart La Fortuna for a short 20-minute drive to the lake, where we will begin our fishing tour.
Our boats are equipped with comfortable rotating seats, electric motors, all of the necessary fishing
gear, life jackets, and expert guides. During the tour we can find chichlid and sabaleta, the predominant
species in this lake, as well as enjoy incredible birdwatching, including kingfishers, toucans,
cormorants, and heron.
