Located directly behind the hotel, take in stunning views of Whakatane whilst walking one of the Nga Taouwae o Toi walkways. These scenic tracks through stunning native bush will bring you close to nature, with seabird colonies and native birds, Pohutukawa stands and plantation forest and unforgettable views over water and land. Also take a walk through history and visit ancient pa sites (Maori villages). There are 4 tracks, each ranging from 1-3 hours in length.

Moutohora/Whale Island is a pest-free oasis that is home to several New Zealand's rare and endangered plants, birds and reptiles. Keep an eye out for a threatened tuturiwhatu/New Zealand dotterel, boisterous tieke/North Island saddleback, Tuatara, or kakariki/red-crowned parakeet as you journey through the regenerated native bush before you dig yourself a soothing geothermal spring pool at Onepu Bay, Moutohora's secluded hot water beach.
