Over 22 kilometers of world-class, single-track trails with shifting views of the coast make Las Catalinas a destination for mountain biking enthusiasts from around the globe. Deep in the shade of these quiet valleys, like a scene straight out of the movie Jurassic Park, you can marvel at the flora and fauna around you. Likely wildlife sightings include monkeys, coatis (relatives of the raccoon), deer, peccaries (wild hogs), and a variety of exotic birds.
Las Catalinas trails are sustainably built with a moderate grade, making for fantastic “flow” riding with enjoyable swoops and roller coasters but no sustained, grunting climbs. You can bring your own bikes, rent in town, and even enhance your experience with a guided tour.

La Estancia Equine Experience

A guide will lead you to the hillside of Vivero La Estancia and through a path of untouched tropical dry forest all the way to an ocean viewpoint. Then, you will descend to Sugar Beach, or as locals call it Playa Pan de Azúcar.
Canela, Luna, Cangrejo, Palomo, Lucero, Juancho, Jalapeño, and India are happy and healthy, tended to daily by our thoughtful team. They stretch their legs in the pasture during the day and enjoy the comfort and security of their spacious, individual stalls at night.
During this experience, you will learn about La Finca and Las Catalinas' current and future initiatives as well as our Collective Impact efforts in the community. At the end of your tour, you can kick off your shoes and enjoy a locally sourced organic refreshment.
Tour Includes: A visit to the chicken coop, a 90-minute horse experience, refreshments, and a donation to the Collective Impact program.
This 2-hour tour is open to participants aged 12 and older. Please arrive at Central 5-10 minutes before your scheduled experience for transportation. We recommend bringing closed-toe shoes, long pants, a water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray.
