Basecamp Samburu

Basecamp Samburu sits within the heart of the 200,000-acre Kalama Conservancy in northern Kenya; the second camp in the conservancy after Saruni Samburu, and one of the most distinctive in our collection.

Five tents, four doubles and one family tent, are designed to disappear into the rugged landscape around them. Each has a private terrace with views that stretch across the Samburu wilderness to the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Ololokwe on the horizon. The spirit of the early explorers lives here: under-canvas, unhurried, and entirely connected to the land.

What sets Basecamp Samburu apart, even within our own portfolio, is its star beds. Two elevated sleeping platforms invite you to spend the night entirely beneath the Samburu sky, with nothing between you and the stars. One comes with a jacuzzi. The other with a private dining area. Both offer something that is very difficult to put into words until you have experienced it.

En-suite bathrooms, a lounge, and dining facilities within the main tent ensure that comfort is never compromised even in the middle of the wilderness. Every stay directly supports the Kalama Conservancy and the Samburu community that calls this land home.
